Thus it is. Which are those that are included by meaning, sutras of definitive meaning, and reliance on wisdom? Answer: They are included by three: cause, name, and attention. Name is solely included by reliance on the Dharma. As is the cause, so is the attention. Suchness is the object of wisdom, therefore it is included by reliance on meaning. True knowledge is solely included by reliance on wisdom. Which are those that are with form, and which are those that are without form? Answer: Cause is both. Attention and true knowledge are without form. Name and suchness are neither, because they are existent by imputation, and because they are inexpressible. Those with form and those without form, likewise, should also be viewed as visible and invisible, obstructive and non-obstructive. Which are those that are with outflows, and which are those that are without outflows? Answer: Cause is both. Two are with outflows. Two are without outflows, suchness is without outflows by way of being the object of the non-outflow, but not by way of being the characteristic of the exhaustion of outflows. True knowledge is without outflows by way of being an antidote for the sake of exhausting outflows. Which are those that are conditioned, and which are those that are unconditioned? Answer: Cause is both. Three are conditioned. Suchness is unconditioned, by way of being the object of the pacification of the conditioned, but not by way of being the characteristic of the pacification of the conditioned. Which are those that are with afflictions, and which are those that are without afflictions? Answer: Cause is both. Two are with afflictions. Two are without afflictions, here also one should observe in the same way as the manner of observing those with outflows and those without outflows. Afflictions and those without afflictions, likewise, one should also view as those with defilements and those without defilements, attachment and manifestation.

It should be viewed thus. Which are mundane? Which are supramundane? Answer: The third is mundane. Suchness is supramundane. One aspect of correct knowledge is supramundane. One aspect is both mundane and supramundane. Suchness is supramundane in the sense of the object of pacifying all names and elaborations, but not in the sense of the nature of truly transcending all names and elaborations. Mundane and supramundane, as they are, belonging and not belonging, should also be viewed thus. Which are internal? Which are external? Answer: Cause and condition are both. Name is external. Discrimination, in terms of belonging to arising, is both. Suchness is neither. Just as with discrimination, so too with correct knowledge. Which are coarse? Which are subtle? Answer: The three are both in two ways. Suchness is subtle, in the sense of being difficult to discern, but not in the sense of diminishing and reducing characteristics. Correct knowledge is also subtle, because it cognizes subtle aspects of meaning. Which are inferior? Which are superior? Answer: The three are both. Suchness is superior, in the sense of the object of purification, but not in the sense of deterioration and becoming a distinct nature. Correct knowledge is also superior, because it is the meaning of the domain of suchness. Which are distant? Which are near? Answer: One is both in terms of distance of place and distance of time. Name, discrimination, and correct knowledge are both only in terms of distance of time. Suchness is neither in either, because it is unconditioned. Which are grasped? Which are ungrasped? Answer: Cause and condition are both. Name, discrimination, and correct

Consciousness is unapprehended. Suchness is not both. How many are concordant? How many are concordant with those? It is said: The cause is both. The remaining ones are not both, because the concordance that is concordant with those is the distinction made to the sense faculties that have form. How many are causes? How many are not causes? It is said: Four are causes. Suchness is not a cause. Just as cause and non-cause are, so also effect and non-effect, and possessing a cause and not possessing a cause, and possessing an effect and not possessing an effect, should be viewed in the same way. How many are fully ripened? How many are not fully ripened? It is said: The cause is both. Name is not fully ripened. Discrimination is also both. Suchness is not both. Correct knowledge is also not fully ripened. How many are those that possess full ripening? How many are those that do not possess full ripening? It is said: The cause is both. Name is that which does not possess full ripening. Discrimination is also both. Suchness is not both. Correct knowledge alone is that which does not possess full ripening. How many are those that possess an object? How many are those that do not possess an object? It is said: The cause is both. Name is that which does not possess an object. Discrimination and correct knowledge are those that possess an object. Suchness is not both. Just as those that possess an object and those that do not possess an object are, so also concordance and non-concordance, and possessing form and not possessing form, and possessing a location and not possessing a location, should be viewed in the same way. How many are those that are superior? How many are those that are unsurpassed? It is said: Four are superior. Suchness is unsurpassed, because of the meaning of the unconditioned and the object of perfect purity. How many are past, future, and present? How many are neither past, nor future, nor present?
