What is it that makes these possible? It is the miracle of magical display, which manifests various aspects of the realm of magical power, causing others to develop great respect for me, and those who thus increase their respect will also listen attentively, generating reverence for yoga and mental engagement. The miracle of universal proclamation is to correctly pursue the conduct of the mind. The miracle of subsequent instruction is to show the Dharma as it is, according to the faculties, the views employed, and the manner of entry, thereby teaching the Dharma and following it in practice. Therefore, that which is correctly grasped by the three miracles is the instruction that completely perfects all aspects. By Nyenthö, tenth volume. What is training? It is said that there are three trainings: the training in higher discipline, the training in higher mind, and the training in higher wisdom. What is the training in higher discipline? It is like "abiding in morality" and so on, as previously explained in detail. What is the training in higher mind? It is to dwell having cultivated detachment from desires, detachment from sinful and unwholesome dharmas, along with thinking and examining, joy and bliss born of detachment, from the first dhyana up to the fourth dhyana. That is the training in higher mind. Furthermore, all forms, formlessness, and other samadhis and attainments are also called the training in higher mind. Although this is so, it is only by relying on the dhyanas that one first directly realizes the truth and enters into the faultless state. If there is no dhyana at all, it is not possible. Therefore, the training in higher mind is taught with the dhyanas as the main focus. What is the training in higher wisdom? It is to know the four noble truths as they truly are, which is called the training in higher wisdom. Why are there only these three trainings and no more? It is said that the meaning of the place of samadhi and the wisdom of

It is for the sake of the meaning of dependence and the meaning of having done the work. Among them, the meaning of the place of samadhi is the training of higher discipline, because if one abides in higher discipline, one will touch the samadhi of the mind of one-pointedness of mind. Among them, the meaning of the basis of wisdom is the training of higher mind, because with the one-pointedness of mindfulness of keeping the mind in equanimity, wisdom and vision arise in accordance with reality with respect to knowable objects. Among them, the meaning of having done the work is the training of higher wisdom, because with extremely pure wisdom and vision, one directly accomplishes the abandonment of afflictions. That is the meaning of self-interest, because abandoning afflictions is the best of actions, because there is no other action before that, therefore the training is limited to those three alone. If you ask what the order of those trainings is like? Extremely pure discipline is without regret. If there is no regret, there will be joy and supreme joy, and extreme pliancy and happiness. With happiness, the mind is kept in equanimity. When the mind is kept in equanimity, one knows thoroughly as it is. One sees thoroughly as it is. When one knows thoroughly as it is, and sees thoroughly as it is, one becomes weary. Weariness leads to detachment from desire. If one is detached from desire, one becomes liberated. If one is liberated, one attains complete nirvana without grasping. Thus, if those disciplines are practiced, one will attain the supreme state of complete nirvana without grasping. That is the order of those trainings. Among them, why is the training of higher discipline called higher discipline? Why are the training of higher mind and the training of higher wisdom called higher mind and higher wisdom? It is for the sake of the meaning of taming and the meaning of higher. Among them, what is the meaning of taming? Whatever discipline tames the higher mind, that is the training of higher discipline.
