Because it is shame, to act with shame is not shame, to regard non-terror as terror, and to show not to regard terror as terror, this should be known as the summary here. Whoever eliminates distinctions, internally completely without distinctions, that one transcends the perception of attachment to form, being separated from the four unions, does not arise and change. This is a verse, and thus here, among those who wish to learn, some who have not separated from desire, relying on the first dhyana, abandon and eliminate the sinful distinctions of acting in desire, and relying on the second dhyana, internally completely purify and the mind stream becomes one, they no longer distinguish all the distinctions of the first dhyana's ground. Relying on the third dhyana, they also completely transcend from the attachment to the joy of the second dhyana's ground. Relying on the fourth dhyana, they also completely transcend from the attachment to the happiness of the third dhyana's ground. Relying on the formless samadhi, they completely transcend from the perception of form. Thus, gradually relying on samadhi, entering the peak of existence, or a being separated from the four unions, separated from the union of afflictive distinctions, separated from the union of non-afflictive distinctions, separated from the union of joy and happiness, separated from the union of form perception, will not be born in the lower realms in the future. An ordinary person possessing the four unions, entering the peak of existence, or a being will be born in the lower realms, it should be known. The summary of this treatise is, in short, the Blessed One has shown the difference between the learner and the ordinary person who are in the peak of existence, this should be known as the summary here. The merit of giving greatly increases, hatred does not arise towards the correct precepts, the virtuous ones completely abandon all evils, afflictions are exhausted and enter nirvana. This is a verse, and thus here, some people develop faith in the Dharma and Vinaya spoken by the Tathagata, and are free from the entanglement of the stain of stinginess.

With a mind dwelling at home, one should properly take the seven objects of merit arising from wealth. Residing in that place, whether walking or sitting, as it is said in the sutra, one should constantly practice until only merit increases. If one goes forth into the well-spoken Dharma Vinaya, then those who have gone forth should think, "I am one with the power of patience." By guarding the precepts, even if others reproach or revile, or strike with hands, fists, sticks, or weapons, one should not be annoyed by this, and one should not let it become an obstacle for oneself. One should not generate hatred, and one should not utter evil words. One should focus on that very object, and abide spreading loving-kindness in all directions. On that basis, in this life, all the resentment in the continuum of oneself and others will be pacified. In the future, one will also be born in a harmless world, resentment will not increase, enemies will not increase, and one will be seen and rejoiced by the world. Thus, that which is truly striving, relying on higher morality, generates higher mind, and relying on higher mind, generates higher wisdom. In the sutra of realizing the truth, it is also said that one will abandon the sinful actions that lead to lower realms and the sins that lead to lower realms. Thus, one should also meditate on the path that has been attained, and by completely exhausting all habitual tendencies, one will pass into complete nirvana in the realm of nirvana with remainder and without remainder. The essence of this explanation is: In summary, the Bhagavan has shown four kinds of paths for the faithful: that which turns into enjoyment, that which turns into a good destination, that which is distinguished by averting the suffering of lower realms, and that which is distinguished by averting all suffering. It should be known that this is the essence of this sutra. Do not do any evil deeds, perfect all good, tame your own mind, this is the teaching of the Buddha. This is a verse, and thus here there are some such as that.

English

Having gained faith in the Dharma and Vinaya spoken by the Sugata, abandoning misconduct in all aspects, all places, and all situations, one properly takes the vows of discipline in the well-spoken Dharma and Vinaya. One perfects virtue in three ways: abiding in discipline, from being bound by the vows of individual liberation, taking up the bases of training correctly and training; and also, relying on the training of higher discipline, one manifestly accomplishes the training of higher mind; and relying on the training of higher mind, one manifestly accomplishes the training of higher wisdom. Thus, one knows what is to be known as it truly is, and sees what is to be seen. In this way, that perfect virtue tames one's own mind in three other ways: having truly known, one becomes weary; being weary, one does not cling; and not clinging, one becomes liberated. The summary of this explanation is: In short, the Blessed One showed that his own teaching is not shared with other teachings by the three trainings and the result of the trainings, and that should be understood as the summary here. Difficult to subdue and swift, it falls wherever it desires. Taming the mind is good, taming the mind accomplishes happiness. This is the verse. That which is called mind, or thought, or consciousness, has long been fond of bustle, and like this, it is difficult to separate from bustle and difficult to subdue. In order to make the cultivation of virtuous dharmas a habit, if one is put into practice, one is not completely free from desire, hatred, and delusion, nor is one completely grasped, without agitation, and abiding in peace, but quickly and swiftly turns back and arises with desire, with hatred, with delusion, with timidity, with agitation, and with non-peace. Even if one is put into practice with one-pointedness in the correct placement within, because one has long been particularly fond of forms, sounds, smells, tastes, and tactile objects, one will cling to forms, sounds,
