Again, it is in order. How is it that one does not experience the feelings that arise from that cause? Whether one wishes to focus on an object, or at the time of focusing, or even when recollecting, because that basis does not give rise to all afflicted feelings. Just as a drop of water remains on a lotus petal, that basis remains without being stained by afflictions. These six are realms to be definitely abandoned. Those are also as it is said in the Sutra itself, from meditating on my love, until even being separated from the clinging that thinks "I am I," although it is so, my mind is completely entangled with the thorns of doubt and hesitation. Therefore, in order to abandon the fault of thinking that love and so forth are not the antidotes to harmful thoughts and so forth, one should look at the distinctions of these. There, the basis is distinguished by the difference of the antidote that is separated from harmful thoughts and so forth. The signless is the antidote to signs, and the way of completely realizing the attainment of the state of the noble ones. The sixth is the way of completely realizing going to the ultimate. Love enters without any tormenting mind from all sides, so it is the antidote to harmful thoughts. Compassion enters with the intention of giving others suffering, so it is the antidote to harm. Joy enters in the manner of rejoicing in the happiness of others, so it is the antidote to displeasure. Equanimity is especially abandoning both, so it is the antidote to desire's attachment and harmful thoughts. The signless is incompatible with signs, so it is the antidote to all signs. For being free from the pride of thinking "I am I," there is no possibility of hesitation in one's own liberation or conceptualization, therefore, being free from the pride of thinking "I am I" is its antidote. Definitely emerging from all harmful thoughts is what is called, "This is definitely emerging," this is uniquely determined as definitely emerging. The fault of harmful thoughts and so forth universally arising exists, this is because of not cultivating. Among them, what are the previous five realms to be definitely abandoned, from those, the previous four

is included in the abode of the gods. The fifth is included in the abode of the noble ones. Furthermore, among these six things that necessarily arise, four are included in the abode of Brahma. The fifth and sixth are solely included in the abode of the noble ones. Because one is completely liberated from the faults of harmful thoughts and so on, it is called necessarily arising. The so-called "reliance" is for the purpose of relying on that which necessarily arises. Regarding these things, the Blessed One also said to rely on the Dharma, not on the person; rely on the meaning, not on the words; rely on the sutras of definitive meaning, not on those of provisional meaning; rely on wisdom, not on consciousness. How are these four distinguished? Through the distinctions of four types of individuals. The first is through the distinction of the hypocrite. The second is through the distinction of the worldly wanderer. The third is through the distinction of the person who abides in holding their own view as supreme. The fourth is through the distinction of the person who is devoted to listening. For the hypocrite, one should rely on the Dharma, not on the person. Having clarified through related speech, it should be understood through wisdom, not merely through conduct. There are also other classifications. The Blessed One spoke of both the person and the Dharma. Regarding this, one should rely solely on the Dharma, not on the person. Because the definition of a local person is not something to be clung to. There are also two types of Dharma, namely words and meaning. Regarding this, one should rely on the meaning, not on the words. One should not be devoted to listening, but should contemplate the meaning, measure the meaning, and carefully examine the meaning. The Blessed One spoke of both definitive meaning and provisional meaning in the sutras. Regarding this, through careful observation of the meaning, one should rely on the sutras of definitive meaning, not on the provisional meaning. The Blessed One spoke of the consciousness that is close to merit and immovability, in order to go to the good realms. He also spoke of the wisdom of the Four Noble Truths, in order to be liberated from suffering. Regarding this, by practicing the Dharma that is in accordance with the Dharma, one should rely on wisdom, not on consciousness. Regarding this,
