It is distinguished by manifest clinging. Therefore, it is said, "The entering suchness is twofold, the root suchness." Similarly, "dwelling and falling into evil states" means that wrong grasping is falling into evil states. Similarly, the root suchness is twofold, namely suffering and the origin, which are distinguished by cause and condition, and because they are the objects of complete conceptualization, they dwell, and are summarized into the twofold suchness of wrong grasping. Characteristic, various consciousnesses, purity, and truly accomplishing are the only one. What is said is the suchness of characteristic, the suchness of various consciousnesses, the suchness of purity, and the suchness of truly accomplishing. These four suchnesses are the only one root suchness, and thus it is the nature of complete accomplishment. Among them, the suchness of characteristic and the suchness of purity are completely accomplished without changing, so they are completely accomplished. The suchness of various consciousnesses and the suchness of truly accomplishing are completely accomplished without being inverted, so they are completely accomplished. In this regard, the three suchnesses of entering, dwelling, and wrong grasping show the equality of sentient beings. The two suchnesses of characteristic and various consciousnesses are the equality of dharmas. The suchness of purity is the equality of enlightenment. The suchness of truly accomplishing shows the equality of wisdom. It is said: The equality of sentient beings is expressed by three, the equality of all dharmas by two, thus the equality of enlightenment and wisdom, each is separately shown. After the suchness of distinction, the suchness of the wise is explained, therefore to show it, the ten suchnesses of the wise are the antidote to clinging to self. Thus it is said. Not knowing what the ten aspects of clinging to self in the aggregates etc. are like, therefore it is asked: What are the ten aspects of clinging to self in the aggregates etc.? Therefore it is said: One and cause and food, agent and also sovereignty, the meaning of master and permanence, affliction and the place of purity, yogi and not liberated liberated, to these one clings as self. It is said that the aggregates

It should be used in conjunction with "etc." The so-called "ten ways of clinging to selflessness" refers to clinging to non-existent things because of selflessness. If there is no self, then how can the clinging that is clung to and controlled by others arise from a non-existent realm? This is not arising from a non-existent realm, but from the aggregates, etc. Therefore, in order to counteract these, ten ways of understanding the aggregates, etc. are explained. How can it be determined that this is clinging to the aggregates, etc. as self, while the self is not existent? Like this, if one thoroughly investigates with reason, one cannot find the so-called "self" apart from the aggregates, etc. Those who claim to have a self, all the functions and nature of the self belong to the aggregates, etc. Therefore, the aggregates, etc. are clearly the basis for clinging to self. Those who manifest clinging to self arise through these ten ways, not through other ways. Therefore, understanding the aggregates, etc. should be understood as the antidote to all self-clinging. For example, the so-called "clinging to oneness" refers to clinging to the five aggregates of appropriation as a whole self, and its antidote is understanding the aggregates. The so-called "clinging to cause" refers to clinging to the self as the cause because of the function of the eye, etc., and its antidote is understanding the elements. Similarly, for others, the incompatible aspects and antidotes should also be explained. Or, thinking that everything arises from oneself, this is clinging to continuity. Whether it is virtuous or non-virtuous karma, one thinks that its result is the cause of desirable and undesirable things in this life, and this is clinging to cause. The so-called "clinging to eating" refers to the fact that because it is mind, I am the eater. Clear and unclear, because there is no mind, it is what is eaten. Or, whether it is virtuous or non-virtuous karma, whatever is born in between, one thinks that he enjoys its result, and this is clinging to eating. The so-called "clinging to being the agent" refers to thinking that oneself is the agent of well-done and ill-done actions. Or, whoever has an agent, whatever he does, he thinks that "I" am doing it, and this is clinging to being the agent. The so-called "clinging to independence" refers to acting independently and freely.
