Furthermore, it is declared. Among them, aspiration and diligence, as well as mind and observation, if any of these are incomplete, the eon will be completely lost, because its power leads to the absence of samadhi. The decline of practice is because the eight aspects of abandonment are incomplete. They are: faith and aspiration, as well as diligence and extreme pliancy, also mindfulness and vigilance, as well as attention and the nature of equanimity. Cultivating these aspects of abandonment can attain the mastery of samadhi, otherwise it cannot. Therefore, if these are incomplete, it is called the decline of practice, and the mastery of samadhi cannot be attained. What is the obstacle here? The opposing factors of aspiration, etc., and the opposing factors of the aspects of abandonment, namely, the afflictions of close proximity. For example: laziness and forgetting the object of focus, as well as sinking and agitation, non-attention and attention. Not generating the qualities conducive to liberation is called the obscuration of the faculties, because fearing samsara, with liberation as the goal, any individual who presently engages in virtuous roots will surely attain liberation, therefore it is called qualities conducive to liberation. If it arises, one can obtain the names of faculties such as faith, otherwise not, therefore not generating the qualities conducive to liberation is said to be the obscuration of the faculties. What is the obstacle here? Any affliction of close proximity that does not generate qualities conducive to liberation, that is, attachment to existence and fear of nirvana. The weakness of the faculties is the obscuration of the powers. What is the weakness of the faculties like? Therefore, it is declared that it is mixed with opposing factors, the so-called opposing factors being lack of faith and laziness, as well as forgetfulness and distraction, and the nature of wrong wisdom, expressed by "cannot be overcome." Becoming antidotal and distinguished by the apex are the faculties. These two qualities conducive to discernment are weakened because they are overcome by opposing factors such as lack of faith, etc., therefore it is possible to completely regress from this. Because of taming the opposing factors, one can generate the qualities of patience and worldly dharma.

At the appropriate time, faith and the like will gain names by strength. Therefore, when faith and the like become warm, and at the peak are overwhelmed by the opposing side and become weak, that will obscure the powers. If this exists, the distinction of powers is impossible. What is the obscuration here? It is the opposing side of disbelief and the like. The fault of views obscures the limbs of enlightenment. Enlightenment here refers to the path of seeing, namely its mindfulness, discrimination of dharmas, diligence, joy, tranquility, samadhi, and equanimity. These seven limbs of enlightenment arise at the time of abandoning the afflictions to be abandoned by the path of seeing, hence they are called limbs. If it is said that they become limbs because they are in accordance with enlightenment, then the close placements of mindfulness should also become limbs of enlightenment. How is it said that the fault of views obscures the limbs of enlightenment? Therefore, it is said, "Because they are thoroughly distinguished by the path of seeing," meaning that it is for the purpose of establishing them in the path of seeing. What is the fault of views? It is the five kinds of co-emergent views, as well as doubt and ignorance, and the afflictions and near afflictions such as desire that take them as their object, and those that are correspondingly associated with them. If it is asked whether doubt and the like are not also obscurations here? Even if they are obscurations, but because the main intention here is to speak of the fault of views, there is no contradiction even if they are not mentioned. The seeds of views and the like reside in the alaya consciousness, and because the path of seeing abandons them, they are called its obscuration. The fault of bad destinies obscures the limbs of the path, namely right view, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right samadhi. Here the reason is stated, namely, "Because these limbs of the path are thoroughly distinguished by the path of meditation," meaning that it is for the purpose of establishing them in the path of meditation. What is the fault of bad destinies? In detail, it is the view of the aggregates and

The view of holding onto self is the same as the co-emergent one, and also aims at the object, and the afflictions such as desire and the near afflictions are also the same, and possess these. The seeds of these reside in the Alaya consciousness, that is the bad destination. In short, other than what is abandoned by seeing, the contaminated dharmas, whose power resides in the Alaya consciousness, that is the bad destination. It is abandoned by the path of meditation, therefore it is established as an obstacle to the limb of the path. The obstacles to the aspects of enlightenment have been explained. After that, the Paramitas need to be explained, therefore, the obstacles to the Paramitas are: wealth and good rebirth, and the obstacle of not abandoning sentient beings. This is explained extensively. Here, whatever the result of any of the ten Paramitas is, obstructing that result, therefore it is called the obstacle of that. Here, just as stinginess etc. directly obstruct giving etc., why is it said to obstruct its result, and not said to obstruct the Paramitas? Because for the sake of its result, everything is included in giving etc., therefore in order to diligently abandon stinginess etc., it is said to be an obstacle to the result, but not an obstacle to the Paramitas. Or, the obstacles such as stinginess are the unfavorable aspects of wealth etc., when producing the result of poverty etc., they obstruct the result of wealth etc., therefore it is called its obstacle. What are the results of those? To this, the result of the giving Paramita is mainly wealth and autonomy. The result of the ethics Paramita is good rebirth. The result of the patience Paramita is not abandoning sentient beings. The result of the diligence Paramita is the decrease and increase of faults and qualities. The result of the meditation Paramita is introducing sentient beings to the teachings. The result of the wisdom Paramita is liberating those who have been introduced. The skillful means Paramita
