Therefore. The meaning of "place" is body. For example, the place of the outer and inner sense bases is the abdomen, just like that body, in what kind of meaning does it reside? The meanings that enter into the treatise, those are its body. Those are also the seven meanings, namely characteristics and so on. "Establishment" means to stipulate, it is a synonym for "to explain." Just by understanding the meaning of the treatise, isn't it possible to know its body? Therefore, initially establishing that is meaningless. It is not meaningless for the sake of benefiting the disciples. If the disciple understands the meaning, then even if explained extensively, it will be easily understood, just like a horse tied with a rope runs unhindered. Otherwise, it is not like that, like saying these seven meanings are explained from this treatise, saying that the body of the treatise is complete is a synonym. Because it should be known, understanding that meaning is a synonym for what should be done. "Seven" is a number. "These" are the characteristics and so on that were mentioned. "From this treatise" means distinguishing the middle and the extremes. "To explain" means to show or to determine. "Like this" is a word particle that makes one understand that meaning. "Characteristic" means, because it indicates this, it is a characteristic. It also has two types, namely the characteristic of being completely afflicted and the characteristic of being extremely purified. Among them, the characteristic of being completely afflicted has nine types, namely starting from "untrue, completely conceptualized, existent," up to "seven types of untrue conceptualization." The remainder is shown as the characteristic of being extremely purified. If it is said that because it indicates this, it is called a characteristic, then in that case, wouldn't the characteristic and the completely afflicted and the extremely purified become different? That is not so, the nature of things themselves is the characteristic, for example, the characteristic of the earth element is hardness, just like there is no different earth element outside of hardness. Or, because it is indicated by that, it is called a characteristic. Like that, the completely afflicted and the extremely purified are also with the nature of the completely afflicted and the extremely purified.

That which is to be expressed becomes its nature. Or, from the two, all afflictions and complete purification, there are two kinds of nature: its own nature and the general nature. The so-called "obstacle" is that which obstructs virtuous dharmas, or because it obstructs virtuous dharmas, it is an obstacle, because it hinders arising, it is an obstacle. There are fifty-three of them. The so-called "suchness" is because this is that. Its entity is suchness, which is a synonym for "not inverted." There are ten kinds of it. Because the opposing side is abandoned, the side is the antidote, which is the path. To familiarize oneself with it is to meditate. The stage is the distinction of its continuous arising. There are nineteen of them, such as the stage of lineage. Obtaining the fruit is obtaining the fruit. There are fifteen of them, such as the fruit of complete ripening. The so-called "unexcelled vehicle" is that which carries beings, so it is a vehicle, and it is both a vehicle and unexcelled, so it is the unexcelled vehicle. There are three kinds of it, such as unexcelled accomplishment. The so-called "seventh meaning" is that it is spoken for the sake of definitive meaning and sequential meaning, and these meanings are explained here, not others. Moreover, this sequence is in accordance with transcendental wisdom, just as the bodhisattva abides in the stage of faith practice, and is well established in ethics. First, one must be skilled in all afflictions and complete purification. After that, one must know which of the virtuous dharmas is an obstacle. If one does not abandon it, liberation is impossible, and if one does not understand it, one cannot abandon it because one has not seen the fault. After that, one must realize that from that obstacle, which object will liberate the mind, that is suchness. After that, one must know which means will exhaust the obstacle that is counteracted by that object, that is, to meditate on the antidote. After that, meditating on the antidote is to know the stage in which its opposing side decreases and the antidote increases, such as the stage of lineage. After that, the manifestation of transcendental dharma is the fruit.
