Subjugating transformation. Although the water of the Ganges is sweet, the ocean water remains the same. Thus it is said. The term "Sugata-born" means that because one has completely departed from the afflictive obscurations along with their imprints and the obscurations of knowledge, into a state of non-abiding nirvana, one is a Sugata. That is, having abandoned all the obscurations of imprints, having fully comprehended all dharmas in all aspects, one's own nature becomes the abode of all riches, possessing inconceivable power like a wish-fulfilling jewel, acting to accomplish all the benefits of all sentient beings, the very nature of the distinction of non-conceptual wisdom is the Sugata. Its nature is the completely pure dharmadhatu itself, because non-conceptual wisdom arises from it, therefore it is from it, or born there, hence it is Sugata-born. Or, because one is born as the Sugata itself, it is Sugata-born. As it is said in other sutras, because one thoroughly obtains the dharma of its nature, one is born into the lineage of the Tathagata. Thus it is proclaimed. Therefore, abiding in the tenth bhumi bodhisattva is like placing all aspects of knowable objects on a beryl in the palm of one's hand, like seeing through eyes covered by a thin silk cloth. The Bhagavan, however, is like removing the obscuration from the eyes, this is the difference. Here, because it is born from the nature of the Sugata, it is taught that the one who composed the treatise fully comprehended it in its entirety, and because he composed the treatise without regard for gain and respect, it is taught that great compassion and wisdom are complete. Explaining means to expound, and it is used in conjunction with the term "manifestly offering." Some say that it can also be said to be born from the Sugata itself. That is the noble Asanga. Through the blessings of the noble Maitreya, this treatise became manifest and was expounded through the continuum of dharma. To whom is it explained? To myself and others, that is, those who are headed by myself are myself and others. This shows that the teachings were received from one's own non-deceptive self. The word "again" is a gathering, or a completion of the root, or a remaining word.

That is, offering is not limited to composing and explaining, but also to offering to any Buddha and Bodhisattva. The so-called "present offering" is forgetting. The so-called "present" refers to being in front or appearing as present. Offering is forgetting with body, speech, and mind. If someone asks, what is the use of making present offerings to the creation and explanation of treatises? Answer: Strive to distinguish the meanings. Here it is said, "Strive to distinguish the meanings." To distinguish the meaning, or to liberate the meaning, or to strive to distinguish separately, this has the meaning of cause, saying that it is the cause of distinguishing the meaning. The "meaning" here refers to the nature of the treatise, because there is the saying that "these seven meanings will be explained from this treatise." Why is this treatise explained? In order to generate the non-discriminating wisdom of the Buddhas and Bhagavat. Because by proclaiming the selflessness of all dharmas, one can generate non-discriminating wisdom, and by familiarizing oneself with it, one can obtain the abandonment of afflictions including habitual tendencies and the obscurations of knowledge. Regarding the selflessness of all dharmas, some say that the non-existence of all dharmas is the selflessness of all dharmas, and some say that the absence of an agent within is the selflessness of all dharmas. In order to prevent these different views, and in order to truly proclaim the selflessness of all dharmas as it is, this treatise is composed. Others say that in order to generate the correct realization of what is not realized and wrongly realized, such as लक्षण (Tibetan: མཚན་ཉིད, Sanskrit: lakṣaṇa, Romanized Sanskrit: lakṣaṇa, literal Chinese meaning: characteristic) and obscurations, thereby eliminating what is not realized and wrongly realized. Or, in order to eliminate the discouragement of Bodhisattvas who think that the nature of the world, sentient beings, dharma, discipline, and means, that is, the five objects of knowledge, is difficult to understand because each has infinite differences. Therefore, लक्षण (Tibetan: མཚན་ཉིད, Sanskrit: lakṣaṇa, Romanized Sanskrit: lakṣaṇa, literal Chinese meaning: characteristic), obscurations, and "only this" are mentioned. Regarding this, first, the nature of the treatise must be established. Regarding this, "regarding this" refers to the meaning of distinguishing the treatise, or to the treatise itself. "First" refers to only at the beginning. "Treatise" has already been explained. Its nature is concise, or the summary of the meaning.
