Well, there is no fault. That is established with regard to the majority of cases. It is said in the scriptures that the definite determination of being of the Buddha lineage in all aspects is from the eighth bhumi onwards. In one way, if the meaning of these is as previously stated, that up to the seventh bhumi is definitely of the Buddha lineage, then wouldn't it contradict the statement in this sutra and others that those below the seventh bhumi are not definitely of the Buddha lineage? There is no fault, as it is a distinction of the continuum of sentient beings. It is said that ignorant beings are tamed by teaching in this way, and it is said for the purpose of establishing the characteristics of those bhumis without confusion in conventional truth. Furthermore, ignorant beings, due to the pride of apparent realization, might think, 'I am definitely of the Buddha lineage, and I have abandoned the works of Mara,' and become lazy. To avoid such faults, it is said that even below the seventh bhumi, it is not definitely of the Buddha lineage. The intention of teaching in this way is related to the faults of dull faculties, such as slow apparent realization. The phrase 'speech and body' and so on means that the non-virtuous imprints of the three doors do not enter them, and for the eighth bhumi, the basis of such imprints, the alaya, and the appearances of the alaya, etc., are realized as dreamlike, and the wisdom of realization is spontaneously accomplished and continuous, like a river. The phrase 'eighth bhumi and' and so on means that sharp-witted bodhisattvas, in the post-attainment phase of the first bhumi and so on, become skilled in all crafts and sciences, and also teach others in the same way, and benefit sentient beings by holding the body of a universal monarch. As it is said in the Noble Ten Bhumi Sutra, a bodhisattva abiding on the first bhumi holds the body of a universal monarch who rules Jambudvipa, and a bodhisattva abiding on the second bhumi holds the body that rules the four continents, and so on. It is also taught in the Dense Array Ornament Sutra. The special mention of 'eighth bhumi and five aspects' refers to the fact that in the eighth bhumi, the Buddhas take care of them and apply them to the benefit of sentient beings.

And, the fifth (ground) is taught in that way because it possesses the wisdom of understanding all knowable things and realizing the four truths. It is not that it is not taught that way on other grounds as well. It is taught that clinging to the two extremes is abandoned by "birth" and "non-birth" and so on. In this way, teaching the two extremes is taught to the Hearers and Solitary Realizers. "In the conventional, things exist. In the ultimate, there is no self-nature." It is said, etc. Here, the basis for distinguishing the two truths is merely the general characteristic that has become the object of knowledge. For the individual characteristics of these, the ultimate truth is that which is included by reason, object, and subject. The conventional is that which is included by deluded object and subject. Moreover, others say that all minds with appearances are delusions, and that their objects are inverted, which is unreasonable. If that were the case, then the Tathagata would also have appearances of body and realm, etc., in the post-attainment state, and would therefore become deluded. If it is feared that such a fault would occur, and therefore there is no appearance of post-attainment, but only the wisdom of equipoise, that is also unreasonable. Because, for that (wisdom), if there is no appearance, either of self or other, then it is not reasonable to be wisdom. If it is experienced and appears in that way, it will also become deluded. If it is said that here, the nature of wisdom does not exist ultimately, but if it is experienced as existing, it will become deluded. But it is not experienced in that way, but rather the non-existent is realized as non-existent, and the experience in the conventional is merely unceasing, so it will not become deluded. Similarly, the appearances of body and realm, etc., are not different from wisdom, and the entity of wisdom itself is not established as true in the ultimate. If it is grasped as existing in that way, it will become deluded. But it is not grasped in that way, but rather the non-existent in the ultimate is realized as non-existent, and the appearance in the conventional is merely unceasing. Furthermore, others assert that the wisdom of equipoise itself does not exist, which has been explained in detail before as a great perverted view of nihilistic slander. Furthermore, others say that the Tathagata knows delusion as delusion, and therefore it is not delusion, which is also unreasonable. Even if it is known in that way, it appears.
