Actions of body, speech, and mind are aroused by desire, and these will be thoroughly eliminated by discipline. Considering the inability to endure insults from others as a benefit of virtue, this shows the object that is incompatible with the third perfection of patience. This sutra ends here. In the Lanka translation of the Commentary on the Compendium of the Great Vehicle, it says: The third obscuration is the inability to endure suffering such as insults, slander, cold, and heat, and patience will thoroughly eliminate these. Not striving diligently, but delighting in pleasure and clinging to desires, considering this as a benefit of virtue, this shows the object that is incompatible with the fourth, diligence, that is, considering laziness, carelessness, and so on as virtues. In the Lanka translation of the Commentary on the Compendium of the Great Vehicle, it says: The fourth obscuration is clinging to comfort that obscures diligence, thinking that what has not been attained has been attained, and considering it as a virtue, and diligence will eliminate this. Abiding in busyness and considering the various things and distractions of the world as benefits of virtue, this shows the object that is incompatible with the fifth perfection of meditation. That is, considering these five or six kinds of distractions as having particularly excellent virtues. In the Sutra of Complete Liberation of Boundaries, it says: Many worldly busynesses rely on things. The Sutra Unraveling the Profound Thought also teaches this. In the Lanka translation of the Commentary on the Compendium of the Great Vehicle, it says: The fifth obscuration is liking to abide in confusion, considering the wonderful things of the world and the causes and conditions of distractions as virtues, and meditation will thoroughly eliminate these. Considering the activities of seeing, distinguishing, and the terminology of consciousness as benefits of virtue, this shows the object that is incompatible with the sixth perfection of wisdom. This sutra ends here.

The fifth chapter of the Sutra of Profound Liberation is the exposition of the objects of worldly people's many distractions, namely seeing, hearing, distinguishing, and the consciousness of discernment. The sixth is to regard worldly elaborations as meritorious deeds, which is a mistake made by translators. Because objects such as seeing and hearing are understood by the sixth consciousness. The Teaching Treatise, the Compendium of the Great Vehicle, states that it eliminates all perverse wisdom that leads to wrong views. In the commentary on the Compendium of the Great Vehicle, translated in Lang's time, it says that the sixth obscuration is to grasp seeing, hearing, distinguishing, and consciousness as truly existent, to diligently engage in worldly elaborations with the mind, and to grasp the meaning of sutras literally with meanings that are not definite. Wisdom can thoroughly eliminate these. In detail, it should be understood as taught by the true teacher in the commentary on the Compendium of the Great Vehicle. "Bhagavan, what are the ripening fruits of those perfections?" From this point onwards is the second questioning and answering, which distinguishes the ripening fruits of the six perfections. This also shows the request for questioning and the answer, which is the initial question of what the individual ripening fruits of the six perfections are. "Son of good family, that can also be understood in brief as three types," and so on, which shows the second truthful answer given by the Tathagata. This also has two aspects: briefly stating the number, and explaining them separately in order, this is the first. Because of the difference in the six causes of accomplishment, the ripening fruits of manifest accomplishment are also six, this is the concluding statement. Possessing great enjoyment, being born in a good destination, being without resentment and strife, having more happiness and mental pleasure, becoming the lord of sentient beings, having no harm to the body, and being known as having great power, this is the second, showing them separately in order.
