is superior. The third is the superiority of the result. What is called relying on it is like this: for a long time. Because it has three kinds of meanings, it is said to be going to the other shore. Moreover, because it is made superior to this, and because it goes to the superior, it is called going to the other shore, because it has become the place where all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas go. Moreover, because it has reached the other shore of what is to be known, it is called going to the other shore, because it abides in the Buddha-nature. Moreover, because it can save oneself and others from extreme suffering, it is called going to the other shore, because it can liberate oneself and others from the great ocean of samsara. It is said like this. Among them, the names that show the difference are as follows: As the Ornament of the Sutras says: It is called giving because it eliminates poverty. It is called morality because it makes coolness. Thus, those who have morality can completely pacify the afflictions that arise from the extremely hot realms of action. It is called patience because it subdues anger, because it can subdue anger and make it exhausted. It is called diligence because it establishes virtue, because the establishment of virtue is accomplished by this power. It is called meditation because it can hold the mind, because it can gather the mind inward. It is called wisdom because it knows the Dharma of Suchness, because it can understand the ultimate meaning. It is said like this. The Treatise Compendium of the Great Vehicle says: It is called giving because it can destroy stinginess and poverty, and because it can obtain great enjoyment and the accumulation of merit. It is called morality because it can pacify the precepts of transgression and all evil destinies, and because it can obtain good destinies and samadhi. It is called patience because it can eliminate anger and all hatred, and because it can make oneself and others abide in happiness. It is called diligence because it can be separated from laziness and all sinful and unwholesome dharmas, and because it can make all wholesome dharmas increase immeasurably to the ultimate. To eliminate distraction

, it is called meditation because it makes the mind abide within. It is called wisdom because it eliminates distorted views and all wrong wisdom, and because it correctly and thoroughly understands the differences of all dharmas in every way. In the commentary written by the master Vasubandhu, it is said: Thus, in the causal stage, generosity is practiced by subduing stinginess, so in the resultant stage, it can destroy all poverty, and obtain great enjoyment and vast accumulation of merit, etc., so it is called generosity. Thus, in the causal stage, evil morality is completely pacified, so in the resultant stage, it can pacify the evil destinies, and in the future, it can obtain the good destinies, and now it can obtain samadhi, so it is called morality. Similarly, for all the paramitas, the definitive meaning should be explained accordingly. The so-called making oneself and others abide in happiness is said in this way: Because one's own body is free from the harm of hatred, it does not cause suffering to others, so it is said to be the attainment of happiness. In the commentary of the master Asanga, it is said: Thus, in the causal stage, stinginess is subdued, and a vast accumulation of merit is accumulated, so in the resultant stage, it can also destroy poverty, and obtain great enjoyment, so it is called generosity. Other definitive meanings are easy to understand. In the commentary written by the master Vasubandhu, the accumulation of merit is shown to belong to the result. In the commentary of the master Asanga, the accumulation of merit is shown to belong to the cause. There are no other differences. In the "Ratnakara" and the "Shrimaladevi Sutra", the definitive meanings stated are slightly different, but they are not mentioned here because of their complexity. The Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara also said to the Bhagavan: Bhagavan, from those six objects of learning, which are included in the higher discipline of morality? Which are included in the higher discipline of mind? Which are included in the higher discipline of wisdom? From this point onwards is the second, summarizing the three disciplines into different
