What is the object of focus? The emptiness of no-thingness is like this: it is that which has no object of focus, not even a little bit of anything. The emptiness of the nature of no-thingness is like this: it is that which is the thing that gathers the dharmas and the nature of what is to be gathered. The emptiness of ultimate reality is like this: it is said to be nirvana. In the commentary on the Noble Perfection of Wisdom, that which is called the emptiness that transcends extremes is that which, having destroyed the dharmas of the emptiness of the conditioned and the emptiness of the unconditioned, is nowhere to be found; that is called the emptiness that transcends extremes. That which is called the emptiness of no-thingness is that no dharma will ever cease. Because there is no cessation, it is called the emptiness of no-thingness. That which is called the emptiness of the nature of no-thingness is called the emptiness of the nature of no-thingness because it takes the characteristics of no-thingness and thingness and has no object of focus. Furthermore, some say that the emptiness of the past and future dharmas is called the emptiness of no-thingness. The emptiness of the present and unconditioned dharmas is called the emptiness of thingness. Because both of these are empty, it is called the emptiness of the nature of no-thingness.

Nama, the former two completely destroy. The emptiness of non-things completely destroys the characteristics of mere consciousness. The emptiness of ultimate reality completely destroys the characteristics of ultimate reality. Some say that the emptiness beyond extremes completely destroys the former two characteristics. The manifest clinging to the characteristics of mere consciousness is completely eliminated by the emptiness of non-things. On other's authority, the characteristic of manifest clinging to the emptiness of ultimate reality is completely eliminated by the emptiness of the nature of non-things. The manifest clinging to perfect reality is completely eliminated by the emptiness of ultimate reality. Some say that, in order, the former four characteristics are completely eliminated. Therefore, whatever characteristics are clung to as self are completely eliminated by the emptiness beyond extremes. Whatever characteristics are clung to as dharma are completely eliminated by the emptiness of non-things, this is what is taught. In the true sense, the emptiness of dharma must also be completely eliminated by the emptinesses, therefore, the emptinesses taught above are also completely eliminated by the emptiness of dharma. Therefore, here, temporarily mentioning non-things and teaching the elimination of the emptiness of dharma is also to thoroughly teach that dharma is not separate from mere consciousness, therefore, like this, the emptiness of the nature of non-things eliminates the characteristics of mere consciousness. The emptiness of ultimate reality eliminates the characteristics of ultimate reality, this is what is taught. In order to match name and meaning, because it is thoroughly taught with meaning, it is only a combination of words. The Sutra Unraveling the Profound Meaning says that these four characteristics are completely eliminated by five emptinesses. Namely: emptiness of self-nature, emptiness of non-things, emptiness of self-characteristics, emptiness of the nature of non-things, emptiness of ultimate reality. If combined with that sutra, it completely teaches the eighteen emptinesses from it. Therefore, that sutra

There are ten characteristics that make it difficult to cultivate loving-kindness from oneself. Relying on the eighteen emptinesses, one should observe those characteristics that are difficult to cultivate, as it is said. In order to correctly understand the meaning of the completely pure Suchness, the ninth characteristic is shown by "What are the characteristics of the unconditioned and the unchanging?" This is also shown by showing the characteristic and showing emptiness, this is showing the characteristic. Thus, in order to correctly understand the cessation of the completely pure Suchness previously shown, when one correctly understands it individually, two characteristics arise, namely the characteristic of the unconditioned and the characteristic of the unchanging. That is truly eliminated by the emptiness of the unconditioned and the emptiness of the unchanging, this is the second, showing the emptiness that becomes the antidote. From the Sutra of the Noble Perfection of Wisdom: "The emptiness of the unconditioned is like this: What is unborn, un abiding, unchanging, and undestroyed, that is called the emptiness of the unconditioned." Unchanging is like this: What is unabandoned, unrejected, unrenounced, and without object, that is unchanging." Thus it is said. In the commentary on the Noble Perfection of Wisdom Sutra, it is said: "Unconditioned means without cause and condition, it is constant, unarising, unceasing, like space." The emptiness of the unchanging is not explained in detail in that commentary. This sutra also mostly shows in accordance with what is said in the Sutra of the Noble Perfection of Wisdom, thus, when emptiness manifests, because there are no two characteristics, it is completely eliminated by the two emptinesses. In order to counteract that characteristic, focusing on that emptiness itself, the tenth characteristic is shown by "What is the characteristic of emptiness?" This is also shown by showing the characteristic and showing emptiness, this is showing the characteristic. There are also two explanations for the words of this sutra, some say the characteristic
