Its name is the characteristic of the unconditioned as previously stated, and the nature of immutability. The antidote, emptiness, is like this: the emptiness of the unconditioned as previously stated, and immutability itself, as taught in the Sutra Unraveling the Profound Meaning. That is, it says: Because the Bodhisattva meditates on the two emptinesses as an antidote to the two characteristics, the characteristic of emptiness appears. This is how it is taught. Some say that "its characteristic" is like this: the previous nine characteristics. "The antidote, emptiness," is the sixteen categories of emptiness. Because one meditates on the previous sixteen emptinesses, the characteristic of the sixteen emptinesses appears. Now, "emptiness truly eliminates" means the teaching of the second antidote, emptiness. The Noble Perfection of Wisdom Sutra says, "Therein, emptiness is emptiness, like this: all dharmas are emptiness, because it is empty by this emptiness, it is called emptiness emptiness." The commentary on the Noble Perfection of Wisdom also teaches the meaning in that way. Therefore, in that commentary itself, it says, "Emptiness emptiness means that by this emptiness, the previous inner emptiness, outer emptiness, and inner-outer emptiness are destroyed, therefore it is called emptiness emptiness," as extensively taught therein. The treatise Distinguishing the Middle from the Extremes says, "The knowledge of emptiness, because it is empty of emptiness, is called emptiness emptiness." Therefore, in that treatise itself, it says, "The inner sense bases and so on, by what are they seen as empty? It is the knowledge of emptiness, its emptiness is emptiness." As it is said, the meaning is in accordance with what is said in the treatise Distinguishing the Middle from the Extremes, like the previous inner emptiness, outer emptiness, inner-outer emptiness, and great emptiness, are destroyed. In the Noble Great Nirvana Sutra, existence and non-existence simultaneously
