In summary, the answers to the two previously requested situations have been given, it's just that the sutra itself used conjunctions. From the sentence, "Then, the Bhagavan, in order to correctly show that meaning, spoke verses," onwards, is the second part, which uses verses to summarize the explanation. This is shown in two ways: by initiating the introduction with verses, and by summarizing the explanation with verses. This is the first part, initiating the introduction with verses. The grasping consciousness is profound and subtle, all seeds flow like a river. If one clings to a self, that is not right, I have not taught that to children. This is called the second part, summarizing the explanation with verses. The explanation of this verse also differs in the treatises. In the commentary on the Mahāyānasaṃgraha by Master Asaṅga, it says: Profound because even the wisdom of worldly scholars finds it difficult to fathom its depth. Subtle because even the Śrāvakas find it difficult to understand. Therefore, this consciousness was not taught to the Śrāvakas and others, because they do not fully seek the extremely subtle omniscience. All seeds flow like a river, which means that they pass from one moment to another, continuously, flowing like a river. I have not taught that to children, which means that for those with a view of self, there was no differentiation, because those who cling to a self will cling to a self in an unchanging way, until the end of saṃsāra. In the explanation by Master Vasubandhu, it says: The grasping consciousness refers to a different name for the name. Profound and subtle means difficult to understand. All seeds flow like a river, which means that they enter in order, and all seeds enter continuously from one moment to another like a river. If one clings to a self, that is not right, which means that because it continues in one way, it will be clung to by conceptual thought. This is what the treatise says.

Within the mere manifestation of consciousness, as explained by the teacher Dharmapala, it is said that this consciousness is called the grasping consciousness because it completely holds the seeds of all phenomena, takes the sense faculties as its abode, connects the continuity, and completely grasps. Because the depth of the minds of beings without lineage cannot be fathomed, it is said to be profound. Because coarse individuals who are inclined towards peace cannot comprehend it, it is called extremely subtle. Because it is the true seed of all phenomena, when moved by conditions, waves of consciousness arise, constantly flowing like a river. Children are those who are inclined towards peace. If they grasp this as self with conceptual thoughts, they will fall into the lower realms and obstruct the noble path. Considering this, the Bhagavan did not separately explain it, as it is said. The fourth chapter, the Characteristics of All Phenomena, from the Sutra Unraveling the Profound Meaning. The twenty-second fascicle. The explanation of this chapter is also divided into two: the explanation of the name of the chapter itself, and the explanation of the meaning of the words of the sutra itself. In the chapter called Characteristics of All Phenomena, there are also two explanations. Some say that there are three kinds of self-nature, and because it is not one alone, it is called "all." All also hold the characteristics of their own self-nature and generate the consciousness of sentient beings by way of examples, hence they are called "dharmas." A characteristic is like this: the characteristic of self-nature, or a characteristic is the characteristic of form, for example, the completely imputed and so on are the characteristics of the form of all phenomena. In short, the three self-natures are called "all." This is explained based on the perspective of the master, so that each self-nature becomes one and is not all. Others say that what is called "all phenomena" is briefly of two kinds: conditioned phenomena and unconditioned phenomena, and so on. What is neither brief nor extensive is five: mind and mental factors, and so on. If it is to be extensive, there are eight consciousnesses.
