The others are not. Transcending desire also shows that it is different from other assemblies. Being well-established also has five aspects: In terms of discipline, it is because one possesses the discipline that pleases the noble ones, and it is also connected in other lifetimes. In terms of listening, it is because one possesses the knowledge that arises from listening to the well-spoken Dharma. In terms of thinking, it is because, relying on this, one has certainty for those with understanding. In terms of meditation, it is because one has attained the path of meditation, which is without outflows. In terms of result, it is because one possesses the abandonment of its result. In short, it shows how to know how to accomplish well with cause and with result. The ten branches that are spoken of are: the eight branches of the path, and right liberation, and the vision of the wisdom of right liberation. When classifying these, the main branch is right view, because the most important thing is to be good at distinguishing. Showing the branches of the path of seeing, the path of meditation, and the path of no more learning, is right thought, because with completely pure right speech, one expresses what one has understood, that is: birth is exhausted, the holy life has been lived. The branches that inspire confidence are right speech, right action, and right livelihood. In terms of right speech, when one determines the relevant words, one will have great confidence in the wisdom that transcends the world. In terms of right action, one will have great confidence in the discipline that pleases the noble ones, because one will not do what should not be done even for the sake of life. In terms of right livelihood, one will have confidence in reducing one's needs, because one seeks robes and so on in a way that is in accordance with the Dharma and is moderate. The branches of abandonment are right effort, right mindfulness, and right concentration. If one initiates effort, one will abandon the afflictions that should be abandoned during meditation. If one abides in right mindfulness, one will not have the near afflictions of sinking and agitation. If one relies on concentration, one will be free from the obstacles that hinder the manifestation of special qualities. The branch of the result

What is true liberation? The fruit of the path is also divided into two: the abandonment of afflictions, which is liberation; and superior faith. Among these, superior faith is placed in the branch of the non-learner, because it is composed of all the branches. The branch of complete cutting off is the seeing of the wisdom of true liberation, because he thinks he is liberated, thus completely cutting off true liberation. In this way, the Sangha of the non-learner is explained as possessing wisdom and conduct, and its fruit liberation, and possessing the wisdom of liberation, thus perfecting the qualities. Possessing the eight branches is the perfection of the qualities of the Sangha of the learner, because they possess wisdom and conduct, and lack both true liberation and the seeing of wisdom. Remaining bonds belong to the learner. Therefore, they are not considered true liberation, because liberation from one aspect of bondage is not true liberation. Because of the absence of the seeing of the wisdom of liberation, which thinks one is liberated, it would lead to the wisdom of the conceited. The eight distinctions are the perfection of the qualities of both, because the fruit clearly shows the path, and the path clearly shows the distinction of the fruit. The four streams are distinguished by the distinction of the fruit path. The distinction of the fruit path should also be understood because the antidotes to afflictions are different, and the accumulated causes are different. In order to realize the fruit of stream-entry, the path of stream-entry is the antidote to the afflictions to be abandoned by the path of seeing, and it is also the accumulation of the cause of the path of seeing alone. In order to realize the fruit of once-returner, the path of stream-entry is the antidote to a part of the afflictions of the desire realm to be abandoned by the path of meditation, and it is also the accumulation of the cause of the path of seeing and meditation. In order to realize the fruit of non-returner, the path of stream-entry is the antidote to all the afflictions of the desire realm to be abandoned by the path of meditation, and it is also the cause of the path of seeing.
