So, like this, what is said as "this being, that arises; this arising, that arises" is also said to be the nature of phenomena. What is shown is that one obtains self-nature by relying on other phenomena. The nature of phenomena is like this self-nature, like this own essence. Whatever obtains the self-nature of phenomena by relying on other phenomena. Therefore, it is shown that that nature of phenomena is arising. Now, showing the dependent arising of the time of occurrence, it is "this being, that arises; this arising, that arises." In order to know the three times, the nature of phenomena is shown. What is said is that the past time also occurred there, so it occurred. It arises, so this arises. In the future also, it will occur, so this will occur. It arises, so this will arise. What is the abiding nature of phenomena? It refers to that nature of phenomena itself. What is said is that all phenomena are its own self-nature. Why is that nature of phenomena said to be the abiding nature of phenomena? Because it is not an artificial meaning. What is said is that the self-nature of which phenomena is not made by anyone. The word 'abiding' shows impermanence. By what difference does it become the cause of others? What is said is that the abiding nature of phenomena is cause, realm, lineage, seed, and power; these meanings are not different. Because this holds the nature of cause, what is said is that in the manner of a definite word, the remaining letters are hidden. What is the definiteness of phenomena? It is what that nature of phenomena is, what that which is without confusion is. What is said is that it is only definiteness. Thus, what is the permanence of the two words of the nature of phenomena, and what is the only definiteness, is shown. What is said as "the abiding nature of phenomena" shows permanence. What is said as "the definiteness of phenomena" shows only definiteness. Words other than that should be understood as being explained in connection. What is said is that the latter explains the former. Or, it should be understood as the connection of the explanation of the third section. What is that alone?

Then, is the opposite of all those knowledges the same? That is, is there only one non-afflicted ignorance, without difference, that is the opposite of the knowledge of writing, treatises, crafts, diseases and causes of diseases, medicines, etc., and the realm of the Buddhas? Or, are they different for each knowledge? That is, the opposite of the knowledge of writing is also different, the opposite of the knowledge of treatises is also different, the opposite of the knowledge of diseases is also different, the opposite of the cause of diseases is also different, the opposite of the knowledge of medicines is also different, and the opposite of the knowledge of the realm of the Buddhas is also different? If non-afflicted ignorance is the only opposite of the knowledge of writing, treatises, crafts, etc., then, since knowledge arises in one person, why does ignorance not disappear in all? That is, even if the knowledge of writing arises, the ignorance that is its opposite will disappear, and since that one thing is the ignorance of all, then the ignorance of all should also disappear. Or, if they are different for each knowledge, then what is it? In any case, non-afflicted ignorance is the opposite. Therefore, one mind will be equal to infinite ignorance. In this way, the opposite of the knowledge of writing, treatises, crafts, etc., must be equal to ignorance, because when one does not understand writing, one also does not understand treatises and crafts, etc. It is also unreasonable for many substances of ignorance to exist simultaneously, because substances must be the same. For example, like the substance of feelings, etc., many things do not exist simultaneously. It is also unreasonable for all infinite substances to be one moment of the continuum of sentient beings, because this does not understand the infinite knowable. If each knowledge has its opposite ignorance, then the infinite substances are all the same moment of the continuum of sentient beings.
