Thus it was said. Why are the objects of gathering divided, since they pertain to the complete maturation of sentient beings? (Because) the four objects of gathering will also be completely perfected, thus it was said. Why are the abodes and the aspects of enlightenment, as well as the doors of liberation, divided, since they pertain to the complete purification of the obscurations of affliction? Abiding in what place, what is meditated upon, and by what door is purification achieved? (Because) the four abodes, the thirty-seven aspects of enlightenment, and the three doors of liberation will also be completely perfected, thus it was said. Why are all the aspects of enlightenment divided, since they pertain to the complete purification of the obscurations of knowledge? In short, all the aspects of enlightenment will be completely perfected in each and every instant, thus it was said. Thus, after showing the establishment of the attainment of the path of union, the distinction between the earlier and later grounds is established as follows: It should be known that the distinction of the seventh ground is established by the two, superiority and inferiority, compared to the lower and upper grounds. What is superiority? Because the conduct arising from application is completely perfected, therefore, the conduct of wisdom and superknowledge is suppressed. Because it was said thus, the Bodhisattva Liberation Moon said to the Bodhisattva Vajragarbha: "O son of the Victorious One, do all the aspects of enlightenment of the Bodhisattva abiding on this very seventh ground of the Bodhisattva become completely perfect in each and every instant? Or do they also become completely perfect in the same way on all ten grounds?" The Bodhisattva Vajragarbha said: "O son of the Victorious One, on all ten grounds of the Bodhisattva, the aspects of enlightenment of the Bodhisattva will also be seen to be completely perfect, but on this seventh ground of the Bodhisattva, they will become even more completely perfect." Why is that? "O son of the Victorious One, Bodhisattvas consider this to be the complete perfection of the conduct arising from application, therefore suppressing the conduct of wisdom and superknowledge."

Therefore, it is said as such. Those superknowledges are five. Wisdom should be understood as it has been taught. How is the conduct arising from application complete in this? It is because of accomplishing the path that is not that of the world and the path that is particularly superior to the path of the world. Therefore, in this, by perfectly generating all the Buddha's teachings, one makes the limbs of enlightenment complete. Why? O son of the king! For the first bodhisattva ground, by particularly focusing on all aspirations, the limbs of enlightenment become complete. For the second ground, it is by removing the defilements of the mind. For the third ground, it is by the increase of aspirations and the attainment of the light of Dharma. For the fourth ground, it is by entering the path. For the fifth ground, it is by engaging in accordance with worldly activities. For the sixth ground, it is by entering the gate of the profound Dharma. For this seventh bodhisattva ground, by perfectly generating all the Buddha's teachings, the limbs of enlightenment become complete, as it is said. Now, by surpassing the lower ground, one should understand the distinction between earlier and later. How is it lower than the lower ground? It is by completing the limbs of application for accomplishing wisdom with diligence. Why is that? It is because from the first bodhisattva ground up to the seventh bodhisattva ground, whatever limbs of application the bodhisattva accomplishes for accomplishing wisdom and superknowledge, those accomplishments are spontaneously and completely accomplished from the eighth bodhisattva ground onwards. O sons of the king! It is like this: for example, between a world that is purified from all afflictions and a world that is extremely pure, one cannot cross over the space between the worlds without generating great power of superknowledge. O sons of the king! Similarly, from the mixed conduct of a bodhisattva to purity, also without aspiration, means, wisdom, and generating great power of superknowledge,

It is said that one cannot easily transcend. The Bodhisattva Liberated Moon said: Noble son, is it that the seventh bhumi of a Bodhisattva should know that the conduct of a Bodhisattva is completely defiled by the conduct of afflictions? The Bodhisattva Vajragarbha said: Noble son, from the very first bhumi of a Bodhisattva, all the conduct of a Bodhisattva is in accordance with the path that is appropriate, and it should be known that it is free from the faults of afflictions because of the complete dedication to enlightenment. It is not right to say that the seven bhumis have completely transcended the conduct of afflictions just because of that. Therefore, this bhumi is said to be completely defiled and purified. It is not for the sake of practicing afflictions. The meaning of 'in accordance with the path that is appropriate' is that each bhumi depends on the path that is appropriate. The analogy of the wheel-turning king is that just as the wheel-turning king, having been born in the Brahma world, transcends the human body, the eighth bhumi completely shows that it has completely transcended the faults of complete defilement because it has attained the path arising from maturation. For what reason? Noble son, for example, the wheel-turning king rides on a precious divine elephant and travels in the four continents. He also knows well the suffering, poverty, and complete defilement of humans, and although he is not tainted by those faults, he cannot be said to have completely transcended the human body just because of that. When he abandons the human body and is born in the Brahma world, he dwells in the immeasurable palace of Brahma, and he also sees the thousandfold world realm and shows the light of Brahma while wandering, and he is not called a human. Noble son, similarly, from the first bhumi of a Bodhisattva, when a Bodhisattva rides on the Paramita vehicle and travels in all beings, he also knows well the faults of complete defilement, and because he has entered the right path, he is not tainted by those complete defilements, but just because of that, the seven bhumis
