One's own karma is unmixed, not different, following the three paths, depending on the past boundary, what is happening now, and the future boundary, the arising of the three sufferings, arising from cause and condition. It is said that individually contemplating the cessation through birth and destruction, and existence and non-existence. Furthermore, in two other ways, through complete contemplation in accordance with compassion, and through complete contemplation of all aspects, therefore, this should be known as individual contemplation. Among these, contemplating in accordance with compassion has four aspects: universal ignorance, perversion, seeking liberation from others, seeking in other ways, and seeking other liberation. What are universal ignorance and perversion like? How does one have universal ignorance about what, and perversion, and then individually contemplate it? That is, clinging to what appears as self, all existence will arise. Because one does not understand that if separated from it, arising will also not exist. Universal ignorance and for what reason? When observing the arising and destruction of the world, one thinks like this: all the arising that is established in the world arises from clinging to self, and if separated from clinging to self, arising will also disappear, so it is said. Such a thing as clinging to self with the mind of a child is perversion. Universal ignorance and perversion about the nature of the limbs of existence, for what reason does one think like this: clinging to self with the mind of a child, so it is said, and so on. How does one seek liberation from others? From the wisdom of seeking liberation from the alaya consciousness and the entering consciousness, etc., in this way, those who are universally ignorant and perverted completely seek from the self in another place, as its antidote, like this, these three realms are only mind, All twelve limbs of existence that the Tathagata has well distinguished and declared, all of those also abide in one mind, so it is said, and so on. How does one seek in other ways? There are three different causes, namely, nature,

One should not seek through the lineage of Īśvara and asceticism, or without cause. Why should one not seek in this way? Because the limbs of existence are closely connected with two kinds of karma. Therefore, ignorance is closely connected with two kinds of action, causing beings to be deluded about their objects and also producing the cause for accomplishing actions, as it is said. Arising from the cause of one's own kind, therefore, 'Conditioned by ignorance are the formations' means that conditioned by ignorance, the formations are continuous and dependent, as it is said. Because it arises from the cause of defilement by afflictions and karma, not arising from the cause of happiness, therefore, ignorance, craving, and grasping are the continuous path of affliction. Formations and existence are the continuous path of karma. The remaining limbs are the continuous path of suffering, as it is said. The former extreme and the latter two extremes arise from the cause between the former and latter extremes. Therefore, what is said as 'Conditioned by ignorance are the formations' is the dependence on the former extreme, as it is said. Otherwise, beings would not become diverse. How does one seek other liberation? Liberation is the characteristic of the pacification of all suffering, the characteristic of the unconditioned, the characteristic of being free from all defilements, and the characteristic of being beyond the world. If that is the case, then those arising from the causes and conditions related to the suffering of formations are also the arising of all defilements and are connected with existence. Seeking liberation from formless existence, that is, seeking liberation from formless existence related to the suffering of formations, why is that? Because, from 'Conditioned by ignorance are the formations' up to 'the six sense bases,' what is said is the suffering of formations, as it is said. That which arises from causes and conditions is also the same, ignorance...
