Ro! Not being born by the power of meditation and formless absorptions means that the thought of the autonomous mind is truly established. Seeing where the limbs of enlightenment become completely perfect means being in the company of all the Buddhas and great Bodhisattvas. Seeing that all dharmas are pure and without change, and that all afflictions are without destruction, is because of dependent origination. In purity, there is nothing to be established, and from afflictions, there is nothing to be removed, because by relying on the antidote, afflictions are reversed, and purity is manifested. Because all dharmas are dependent on conditions, it is understood that they are without change and without destruction, as it is said. Because the cause of its arising has become distant, therefore, by meditating on even stronger desire, and the afflictions associated with form and formlessness, all that should be abandoned, together with its cause, ignorance, will become thin. Views are abandoned by the path of seeing in the first ground itself, because in that way, all the bonds of even stronger desire will become thin. All the bonds of form, all the bonds of existence, and all the bonds of ignorance will be abandoned. Regarding those bonds that have become its views, they have already been abandoned before, as it is said. Regarding wrong desire and so on, it is not to be diminished, but to be abandoned, which means abandoning the latent tendencies of the roots of non-virtue, but not eliminating the cause of arising that has been previously eliminated. Because, for the bodhisattva who abides on the Light-Maker bodhisattva ground, from countless hundreds of thousands of eons, to countless billions of eons, wrong desire is not to be diminished, but to be abandoned. Wrong anger is not to be diminished, wrong ignorance is not to be diminished, but to be abandoned, as it is said. The example of the golden Sal tree illustrates that there is no depletion, because it can bear weight, it can control the land below. On this ground, acting without desire, there will be no decline, completely giving.

In short, for what reason? O sons of the Victorious Ones, it is like this: for example, gold dust, when smelted in the hands of a skilled blacksmith, still retains its original weight. O sons of the Victorious Ones, similarly, a Bodhisattva abiding in the Luminous Ground, from countless hundreds of thousands of kalpas to countless billions of trillions of kalpas, will abandon the attachment that should be abandoned and regressed, as mentioned before. He does not become angry at harm, and in order to protect the minds of others, his patience and joyful thoughts become even more purified. For what reason does his patience and joyful thoughts become even more purified? This is fully shown through the difference of harm. For potential harm, he reconciles with friendly words, because of the friendly and gentle thought. For actual harm, he does not become angry, does not retort, and does not create unpleasant feelings, because of the thought that is unmoved by anger, the thought that is not angry, and the thought that is unwavering. He is not arrogant about the past, and does not become complacent because "I said it," because of the thought without high or low distinction. He does not envy the respectful actions of others, because of the thought without desire for what sentient beings have done. He hopes to reciprocate with benefit, because of the thought without expecting reward for what has been done. He bestows benefit without pretense, and bestows benefit equally without partiality, because of the thought without deception or falsehood. He reduces unpleasant feelings and has no connection, because of the thought without stubborn clinging. The remainder of this ground should be understood in the same way as before. In the Holy Ten Grounds Sutra, the explanation of the Third Ground is complete. Volume Seven, the Fourth Ground is distinguished by relying on the complete purification of Samadhi, through hearing, retaining, and knowing the truth as it is, with complete purification of wisdom. That is,
