Those two are capable of understanding, for the sake of thinking well and obtaining supreme joy. What is called non-distraction refers to those who are wise, that is, those who think well. Now, to fully demonstrate the excellence of the desire of the examples themselves: Just as the thirsty desire cold water, the hungry desire food, the sick desire excellent medicine, and swarms of bees desire honey, so too, the retinue abides in your words. Thus it is said. These four lines are explained through four different meanings, in order to show that desire itself. What are the four meanings? They are: receiving, relying, separating, and abiding in comfort. By what example? For example, just as water comes without being restrained, so too, what is obtained is held as it originally came. For example, just as the body becomes strong when food is taken in moderation, so too, with the wisdom of thought accompanied by hearing, one will rely on virtuous Dharma. For example, just as one is separated from disease by taking good medicine, so too, if one strives to meditate on the meaning that accords with hearing and thought, one will be separated from the disease of the evil realms of affliction. For example, just as bees abide in comfort by relying on honey, so too, abiding in the fruit of hearing, thought, and meditation, the noble ones abide in comfort by fully enjoying the taste of Dharma with manifest joy. Thus, the speaker and the retinue are encouraged by possessing praise, and are honored by possessing the praise of speaking. Therefore, in order to fully demonstrate the fifteen powers of the Sugata's conduct, and the absence of attachment, you who possess immaculate wisdom, as the excellence of the earth, please fully explain everything without defilement. Thus it is said. Among these, what is called "speak well" is the excellence of the speech itself, that is, demonstrating the very manner of reasoning. The excellence itself is also shown in three ways: the basis, the nature, and the fruit. Among these, the basis is the immaculate wisdom. The nature is said to be the showing of those things that have not been spoken by the lands, that is, the excellence of being without defilement. What is it like to be without defilement? It is the meaning not being inverted. In speaking, there are three faults when the meaning is inverted: the speaker has faults, and the defamation of the teacher.

It is deceiving those who descend and those who listen. The fruit is the enlightenment of the Buddha, possessing the ten powers and being without obscurations. Although urged in this way, why is it not spoken? Because the urging is not yet complete. The chief of one's own lineage urged earlier, and the retinue urged later. Now, seek the urging from the chief of the retinue, the Lord of Dharma. Why? Because this Dharma category is extremely important. Then, at that time, from the treasury hair of the Blessed One Shakyamuni, arose a light called the Power Manifestation of the Bodhisattva, possessing countless upon countless lights. It illuminated all the realms of the ten directions, cut off all the suffering of the lower realms, made all the abodes of the demons dim, manifested countless mandalas of the Buddha's retinue, showed inconceivable aspects of the Buddha's land's power and miraculous transformations, and in all the realms of the ten directions, manifested bodhisattvas blessed to teach the Dharma in the mandalas of the retinues of all the Tathagatas. Above, in the sky, it formed a great layered house of a dense cloud net of light and remained. Similarly, from the treasury hair of those Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, also arose lights called the Power Manifestation of the Bodhisattva, possessing countless upon countless lights of the retinue. They also illuminated all the realms of the ten directions, cut off all the suffering of the lower realms, made all the abodes of the demons dim, manifested countless mandalas of the Buddha's retinue, showed inconceivable aspects of the Buddha's land's power and miraculous transformations, and in all the realms of the ten directions, manifested bodhisattvas blessed by the blessing of the blessing to teach the Dharma in the mandalas of the retinues of all the Tathagatas, and then
