This explains afflictions. The detailed distinction of the dense causes of afflictions is explained in three ways: As for the long duration up to the peak of existence, why is that? Therefore, it is said in the sutra, "Those afflictions of long duration are also truly known." As for being difficult to know, because they arise universally in conjunction with limitless virtues and so on, why is that? Therefore, it is said in the sutra, "It is precisely limitless conjunction." Afflicting with the pervasive afflictions of afflictions, birth, and karma, that is, here it is explained how to bind, with what to bind what, therefore, with the pervasive afflictions of afflictions, it completely shows the pervasive afflictions themselves. Why is it said that they are co-emergent and inseparable, that habituation and pervasive entanglement have the same meaning, that they are associated with the mind, and that they are not associated? Here, "how" means that one becomes a friend of the other, one arises from the other, because they are co-emergent and undifferentiated. "With what to bind" means with habituation, if that exists, then there is no liberation from it, because habituation and pervasive entanglement have the same meaning. "What is bound" means the mind, because it is associated with the mind, and it is not associated. Mentioning non-association is to show that there is an opportunity for liberation. With the pervasive afflictions of the body's actions and the aggregates and elements' arising, it completely shows the pervasive afflictions themselves, why is it said that the action of the connection of birth abides as it is, and the distinction of the three realms, and craving, ignorance, the arrow of views, pride, and the extreme height of delusion? Because these three aspects are the cause of karma that obstructs liberation, and the limitless cause of the actions of the body and so on arising in accordance with samsara, therefore, with the pervasive afflictions of karma, it completely shows the affliction itself, why is it said that the basis of the three types of karma is continuous, in short, it is the follower of eighty-four thousand different afflicted behaviors.

It is said that even until entering the ground, one can fully understand as it is. The three sides are the side that enjoys desires, the side without discipline, and the side of the heretics. Thoroughly distinguishing the dense causality of karma is shown by thoroughly distinguishing the cause of going. Because from there, even the very nature of virtue, non-virtue, and non-explanation can be fully understood as it is. Showing by thoroughly distinguishing nature is because it is said that the very nature of being able to distinguish and not being able to distinguish. Showing by thoroughly distinguishing methods is because it is said that the very nature of arising together with the mind and being non-different. Showing by thoroughly distinguishing fruit and non-fruit, etc., is because it is said that the cause destroys instantaneously by its own power, increases, the fruit is not wasted, and the very nature of connecting. Showing by thoroughly distinguishing immature fruit and mature fruit is because it is said that the very nature of having and not having Vipaka. Showing by thoroughly distinguishing the inconsistent side and the antidote is because it is said that black and white, different, and various actions, correctly accepting many sides themselves. Showing by thoroughly distinguishing conditions is because it is said that the field of karma is immeasurable itself. Showing by thoroughly distinguishing non-cyclic existence and cyclic existence is because it is said that the noble ones and the world are thoroughly distinguished themselves. Showing by thoroughly distinguishing definite and indefinite is because it is said that this life and the next life, and the very nature of being experienced in other times, and the definite and indefinite for the vehicle and non-vehicle, even up to thousands of different karmas, can be fully understood as it is. Among them, thoroughly distinguishing nature is two kinds of karma, namely intention and thought. Thoroughly distinguishing methods is arising together with the mind, thereby manifesting the habitual mind and the non-different fruit. Thoroughly distinguishing fruit and non-fruit, etc., is the karma of beginningless time, destroying and increasing instantaneously by its own power.
