It is not. In this verse, mutual observation is a limb. Mutual observation that is not afflicted is a close limb. For others as well, the first is a limb, and the remainder should be understood as close limbs. Similarity of characteristics, dissimilarity of characteristics, aggregation, and increase are also as before. The greatly wise and fearless Vajradhara, having heard this, spoke to the son of the Sugata in order to make the retinue rejoice. In this verse, speaking for the sake of the retinue's joy is a limb, it is the characteristic of making understandable. Making understandable is also of two kinds: making understandable through wisdom and making understandable through fearlessness. This is shown by the two, great wisdom and fearlessness itself. If one is missing, one cannot make others understand. If the second is missing, the making understandable itself will not become clear, because both are shown in order to completely abandon the faults in the mindstreams of oneself and others. What is it that makes understandable? It is the difficulty of explaining and hearing this Dharma. Therefore, in order to show the difficulty of explaining itself, it is said: This is a difficult, supreme, and wondrous thing, the conduct of the Bodhisattva is well explained, the differentiation of the essence of the earth is supreme, and from it, the true nature of the Buddha is obtained. Among these, difficulty is that which is difficult to accomplish. Difficulty itself is of two kinds: extreme difficulty itself and difficulty due to unfamiliarity itself. This is shown by the supreme itself and the wondrous itself. Why is it so difficult? Because it is said: The conduct of the Bodhisattva is well explained, the differentiation of the essence of the earth is supreme. Among these, the conduct of the Bodhisattvas is the wisdom of realization. To show it well is to explain it well. The differentiation of the essence of the earth is supreme, which means that the cause of the Bodhisattva's conduct, showing the earth and so on, is also the most supreme. What is the conduct of the Bodhisattva that is well explained like? It is said: From it, the true nature of the Buddha is obtained. The nature of the Buddha is the Buddha itself, it is the wisdom of the Buddha. After showing the difficulty of explaining itself, how is it difficult itself?

That is to explain its cause. What is its cause? It is the inability to explain as it is the meaning of the conduct of a Bodhisattva. And how does that meaning abide? "Subtle, difficult to see, abandoning discursive thoughts, difficult to accomplish because it is separate from the realm of the mind, it is the uncontaminated realm of activity for the wise, beings who hear of it will be confused." This is what is said. Among these, the difficulty of accomplishing itself is a limb, and the rest are nearby limbs. Among these, the difficulty of accomplishing is the difficulty of obtaining, the difficulty of realizing. The difficulty of accomplishing itself is also of four kinds, from the difficulty of accomplishing due to subtlety, to the difficulty of accomplishing due to being separate from the realm of the mind. Among these, subtlety is not to be known by the wisdom arising from hearing, for the coarse is not to be known without thinking. Difficulty to see is also not to be known by that which arises from thinking. Abandoning discursive thoughts is also not to be known by that which arises from worldly meditation, for discursive thoughts are the minds and mental factors of the three realms. This shows for the moment that it is not the realm of activity of the wisdom arising from worldly practice. The phrase "separate from the realm of the mind" shows that it is not even the realm of activity of the distinctions of mind arising from being born and from maturation, for the realm of activity of the mind here should be determined by the mind. So, whose realm of activity is it? "It is the uncontaminated realm of activity for the wise," this is what is said, it is a synonym for those who see the truth. Why is it not for others? Because the so-called "uncontaminated" is a synonym for that which transcends the world. Therefore, it is not to be known by worldly wisdom. In that way, even if one were to explain that profound meaning as it is able, it would be difficult, for "beings who hear of it will be confused." What kind of confusion? It is grasping the meaning according to the literal meaning of the words. The word "hearing" means that it is difficult to explain after hearing, it is like that. Now, how is it difficult to listen? Having established the mind as being like a vajra, with increased devotion to the supreme wisdom of the Buddha,
