The twelve branches of dependent origination, along with their causes, are individually established in order according to their characteristics. Therefore, because of being separated from the agent and so on, as well as from causelessness and incompatible causes, and having abandoned afflictions and near afflictions, correct wisdom arises, and the unsurpassed Dharmakaya is attained. Therefore, it is also necessary to speak of this, and therefore, the meaning of this reason is not established. Therefore, just like treatises on medicine and so on, this treatise should also be composed because it possesses connections and so on. "To be composed" means dharma. "Treatise" means the subject of dharma. Dharma and the subject of dharma in general are the thesis. Here, because there is dharma, it is the subject of dharma, like someone holding an umbrella. If that is the case, then making prostrations to the composition of treatises is meaningless, because there is no need, like treatises on examining the teeth of crows and so on. It is said that the meaning of this reason is not established. Offerings are made to the teacher when composing treatises. If asked why, it is because it is the cause of the treatise and of generating respect for it. Those who listen to the Dharma and generate respect will be respectful towards listening, thinking, and meditating. Those who do not generate respect are not, so the meaning of the reason is not established. Or, in order to show the tradition of the conduct of the noble ones, offerings are made to the teacher from the composition of treatises. This is the conduct of noble and wise beings. Whenever someone engages in composing a necessity, they first prostrate to a pleasing deity. When they enter into special necessities, the desired meaning will be accomplished without delay. Therefore, this composer of treatises also follows the tradition of the conduct of the noble ones. When composing a treatise, they first make prostrations that precede the praise of the qualities of their own teacher, and then they begin to explain the treatise, so this has a purpose. It is said that the act of composing a treatise and prostrating to the teacher is not fruitless, because it is the cause of generating respect for the teacher and the treatise, and not for any other reason. After that, the act of the composer of treatises making offerings to the teacher is truly abiding. Therefore, the other treatises'

Whatever was said about not needing to pay homage, it was said to show that the reason was not established. It was said that paying homage when composing a treatise is necessary, just like treatises on medicine and the like. It is not like examining a crow's teeth. Having paid homage to one's own teacher, the treatise in verses combined with the Sālu Jaṅpa Sūtra, it was said that it would be explained. What is that? It was said, such as "The King of Sages, in Rājagṛha." Rājagṛha is the kingdom, a synonym for the royal palace. The so-called "Vulture Peak Mountain" is the Vulture Corpse Forest Mountain. Therefore, from the sūtra that accurately gathers, it was said, "Thus I have heard." From whom was it heard? Therefore, it was said, from the Blessed One. The so-called "at one time" is at one time. The so-called "Blessed One" is the Blessed One because of possessing destruction. What is possessed by destruction? Therefore, it was said, the four māras. Namely, the kleśa-māra, the skandha-māra, the deva-putra-māra, and the mṛtyu-māra. How was it destroyed? It was said, because the antidote wisdom was attained. By entering the paths of seeing and meditation, through the stages of cultivating the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, such as the four mindfulnesses, by contemplating the four noble truths, by truly contemplating the suchness of the skandhas, because of possessing the non-inverted wisdom of impermanence, suffering, emptiness, selflessness, etc., because of realizing the selflessness of persons and phenomena, and the absence of grasper and grasped, because of realizing that this triple world is only mind, from the perspective of being free from the two obscurations of kleśas and knowledge, the kleśas were destroyed. Being free from the four inversions of permanence, happiness, purity, and self, possessing the unsurpassed dharmakāya, and attaining non-abiding nirvāṇa, therefore the skandha-māra and the mṛtyu-māra were conquered. All phenomena are like illusion, mirage, gandharva city, emanation, image.
