The first part is about how the mind of enlightenment arises. The fourth part is about the different ways of training in that mind. Regarding the first meaning, some teachers say that the mind that is encompassed by the worldly path of the believing practitioner is the mind of aspiration for enlightenment. Others say that as long as the mind has an object, it is the aspect of conventional truth, and it is the mind of aspiration. Still others believe that the mind of the accumulation path that generates roots of virtue in accordance with the aspects of liberation is the mind of aspiration. Some believe that the mind that is not associated with the manifest accumulation of merit is the mind of aspiration. Others say, "Wanting to go and going," that merely having perfect enlightenment as its object is the mind of aspiration. There are other different views as well, but that would become too complicated. There are also differences regarding the second meaning, and one should refer to the treatises composed by those very individuals. Regarding the third meaning, some believe that the mind of enlightenment can arise even by generating it in the presence of a person. Others say that the mind of enlightenment should not be generated except in the presence of the Buddha. Still others believe that the arising of the mind of enlightenment occurs in four ways. There are also differences regarding this fourth meaning. Some teachers say that there are five kinds of bodhisattvas: those who generate the mind for the first time, those who enter into practice, those who are irreversible, those who have attained tolerance of the unborn dharma, and those who are bound by one more lifetime. They believe that one should guard as many trainings as there are for the first two. Others say that everything taught in the sutras should be guarded. Still others believe that one should guard all the trainings of the path of accumulation. Still others do not believe in such trainings. Some say that in addition to the trainings of taking refuge, there are also the Ornament of the Tree Sutra, the Sutra on Fully Embracing the Roots of Virtue, and the Sutra on Generating the Power of Faith, etc. But for now, one should guard the eight dharmas that cause the mind of enlightenment to not be forgotten and not degenerate, as taught in the Sutra Requested by the Noble Light Holder.

Oh, it is considered so. Those are just symbols. Like this, if all the customs of the great scholars of the past were gathered here, then the scriptures would become very numerous. Those great teachers are those who have become reliable individuals on the path of the Great Vehicle, those who are skilled in great love and great compassion, and those whose minds are steadfast in the two aspects of Bodhicitta. Among them, some teachers have attained the Siddhi of Mahamudra, some have seen the truth, and some have obtained the supreme Dharma of the world and then received instructions from the Nirmāṇakāya. In the Sutras themselves, as they thought, the Blessed One (Sanskrit, Bhagavān, Blessed One, भगवन्, possessing auspiciousness) spoke, so it should be understood that those are the great paths. However, one should follow the customs as given by one's own Gurus, as my Gurus said. Therefore, here, for a moment, the teachers, the noble Nāgārjuna, the teachers, the noble Asaṅga, and the teachers, the noble Śāntideva, have no difference and are consistent in the way of the ritual of generating aspirational Bodhicitta. Now, my Gurus, the venerable Palden Jangchub Zangpo, and the Gurus, the venerable Suvarṇadvīpa (Sanskrit, Suvarṇadvīpa, Suvarṇadvīpa, सुवर्णद्वीप, Golden Island), also follow those noble ones, and I also follow those venerable Gurus, so the way of the ritual that I have composed at the request of the assembly of disciples, it should be understood that it is the custom of the noble Nāgārjuna, the noble Asaṅga, and the noble Śāntideva. Those are mentioned in passing. Therefore, for the growth of the tree of Bodhicitta, like the moisture of water, there are two Dharmas that need to be done in advance, namely, taming the mind and offering to the Guru. Offering to the Guru is also like what is said in the Sutra of the Noble Auspicious Aeon and the Great Compassion Sutra. Taming the mind is done in the way of the Noble Samantabhadra's Aspiration Prayer, as mentioned earlier, and also in the way of Engaging in the Bodhisattva's Conduct. After that, the Dharma lineage of the great person, the path of the Great Vehicle, transmitted by one Guru, is either the ritual of the great teacher Śāntideva, or the ritual of the great teacher Asaṅga.
