Unable to fly in the sky. Similarly, due to the lack of clairvoyance, one is unable to benefit sentient beings. If one has not attained clairvoyance and has not generated the wisdom of meditation, but relies solely on the wisdom of hearing to preach the Dharma and gather disciples, that is madness. As it is said: If one does not know one's own capacity, how is speaking not madness? In the Sutra of Inciting the Superior Thought of the Noble One, it says: One should delight in speaking, and one should see the faults of delighting in speaking. Also, in the same text, the faults of delighting in speaking are mentioned: Being puffed up by hearing, one will not be respectful, and one will be attached to arrogant speech. One will become forgetful and lose mindfulness. These are the faults of delighting in speaking. One will become very distant from inner warmth. The body and mind will also not be well tamed. One will become arrogant and have many vices. These are the faults of delighting in speaking. Children will completely lose the contemplation of the sacred Dharma. The mind becomes inflexible and very rough. One will be far from tranquility and insight. These are the faults of delighting in speaking. One is always without respect for the gurus. Instead, one delights in false speech. One dwells on meaningless things, and wisdom declines. These are the faults of delighting in speaking. Similarly, it is also said: I have declined in practice, what should I do now? At the time of death, the child will grieve. If one has not found the essence, one will be very miserable. These are the faults of delighting in speaking. Like grass being moved by the wind, one wavers. Such a person will certainly become doubtful. Such a person will never become steadfast. These are the faults of delighting in speaking. Like sitting in the midst of a crowd watching a performance. Like praising the qualities of other heroes. Because one will neglect diligence. These are the faults of delighting in speaking. That person will become cunning, frivolous, and hopeless. One will be fickle and arrogant. One will be far from the sacred Dharma of the noble ones. These are the faults of delighting in speaking. One will be deceived by small flatteries. Lacking wisdom, one will become cunning and changeable. Like a monkey, his mind will become agitated. These are the faults of delighting in speaking. Thus it is said in the sutra. Similarly, due to delighting in speaking for a long time, that will

One who delights in trivial talk does not attain happiness; through what speech will boundless happiness be attained? Even contemplating a single word is supreme. The sugarcane's peel has no essence; the pleasing taste is within. If one eats the peel, one cannot find the delicious taste of sugarcane. Like the bark of a tree is speech; like the taste is the mind of meaning. Therefore, abandon delighting in speech; always be mindful and contemplate the meaning. Thus it was said. Likewise, it was also said. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Maitreya asked the Bhagavan thus: "Those Bodhisattvas who abandon the supreme Dharma and engage in evil deeds have very little wisdom and their wisdom will deteriorate." Having asked thus, the Bhagavan said to the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Maitreya: "Maitreya, it is so, it is so. As you have said, those Bodhisattvas who abandon the supreme Dharma and engage in evil deeds will have very little wisdom. Maitreya, I have shown it to you; you should understand it. Those Bodhisattvas who lack diligence, lack meditation, lack renunciation, lack recitation, and do not extensively seek learning are not those who have renounced the Tathagata's teachings. Maitreya, the Tathagata's teachings are well distinguished by meditation and renunciation, gathered by wisdom, held in equipoise by wisdom, and well distinguished by manifest diligence, but not well distinguished by the affairs of householders and flattery. The activities of those who strive inappropriately and delight in samsara are like this: they are bound by flattery and worldly affairs. Bodhisattvas should not generate desire for this." Thus it was said. The Lama also said: "Thus, a Bodhisattva endowed with hearing should refrain from teaching the Dharma; until one has attained direct realization, one cannot benefit others merely through hearing." And again it was said: "Therefore, one should not teach the Dharma merely through extensive hearing; one must obtain
