Taking refuge and confessing individual downfalls, generating the two aspects of Bodhicitta, one should aspire to train in all the Bodhisattva trainings taught in the Mahayana sutras that I uphold. Therefore, such a yogi who does not waste days and nights possesses three perfections. The Lama said that the three perfections lead to experiencing happiness, namely, the perfection of application, intention, and past causes. Among them, the perfection of application means constantly avoiding evil deeds of body, speech, and mind, and accumulating sins. The perfection of intention means that my intention is Dharma, not non-Dharma such as wrong livelihood. I also seek great Bodhi, not worldly happiness. The perfection of past causes means that in the past, they accumulated merit and performed virtuous deeds, so now they are not impoverished by clothing, food, and resources, and they are willing to share with others. This is what the Lama said. Like this, for beginners and those with small faculties, one should not immediately lead them onto the path. Instead, one should first explain to them the vast Bodhisattva training scriptures and treatises, make them proficient in these principles, and then perform the initiation ceremony for them to enter the path. This is what the Lamas say. Here it is said: Respect the Three Jewels, abandon attachment to objects, Remember death, make morality the foundation, Respect and have faith in the Lama, without deceit, Abandon sinful friends, possess the union of sessions. A broken session becomes eighteen segments, The morning session has three segments, In the first and middle segments, If faults occur, in the last segment, Forgetting Bodhicitta, the Bodhisattva vow is lost. The latter five sessions should also be compared to this, One segment at a time, well restored, Is the superior person, the middling is the second, Restoring the last segment is the lowest, The best of the best restores in the first instant, The best of the middle restores in the second instant, The best of the lowest restores in the third instant.

Thus, superior, middling, and inferior individuals, all future learners, should act accordingly. Some great and learned masters say: To remedy immediately after a fault occurs is a superior individual; to remedy after a moment or two is a middling individual; an individual remedies within six periods of time. Thus it is said. The training of higher morality has been taught. Thus, it is not enough to merely maintain morality; one must also generate samadhi and wisdom. However, samadhi will arise from relying on morality, as it is said in the Sutra of Noble Moon Lamp: "The samadhi without afflictions is quickly attained; this is the benefit of pure morality." Thus it is said. Master Shantarakshita said that morality is the cause of accomplishing samadhi. Moreover, therefore, any means that can be a cause of samadhi should be known to be included within morality. Therefore, one who seeks samadhi should have mindfulness and awareness. Thus it is said. Also, one who seeks morality should also strive to practice samadhi. Moreover, the two who seek morality, increasing each other, these two can make the mind completely subdued and completely accomplished. Thus it is said, because without morality, samadhi will not arise. Therefore, one must strive to maintain morality. Therefore, with the samadhi that has perfect morality, generating clairvoyance, doing the benefit of others, and the method of accumulating the two accumulations is clairvoyance, so in order to explain it: "The accumulation of merit and wisdom nature, is the cause of the complete perfection, all Buddhas' cause is, the generation of clairvoyance is the thought." That is it. Wanting to accumulate the two accumulations, always wanting to do the benefit of others, if clairvoyance is not generated, like the action of a blind person, like the action of a madman, and like the action of an animal. If one's own benefit is not accomplished, how can the benefit of others be accomplished? This is a brief teaching. Like a bird that has not grown wings.
