Summarized into nine kinds of precepts and so on. From the chapter on precepts itself, the precepts of Bodhisattvas are only this much, the actions of precepts are also only this much, the benefits of precepts are also only this much, there is nothing higher than this, there is nothing more excellent than this, thus it is said. Master Shantideva summarized all the Sutras into the three types of learners, namely those who are greatly accustomed to the Mahayana, those who are moderately accustomed, and those who are slightly accustomed. Regarding the aspect of great habituation, it is said in the Compendium of Trainings: "The vows of Bodhisattvas, extensively arise from the Great Vehicle." It is also said in the Bodhisattvacharyavatara: "There is nothing that the sons of the Buddhas do not learn." From the mouth of the venerable Bodhibhadra, it is also said: "Like this, the basis of the Bodhisattvas' trainings that actually appear are these, this is a summary. Furthermore, the Bodhisattvas' trainings are inconceivable and without limit, therefore, one should follow what is taught in them, and discern what should be done and what should not be done." Thus it is said. Regarding the aspect of moderate habituation, it is again said in the Compendium of Trainings: "By what one does not fall into sin, one should know this essential point, my body and enjoyments, the merits arising from the three times, give to all sentient beings, protect, maintain purity, and increase." Thus it is said. Regarding the aspect of small habituation, it is also said in the Compendium of Trainings: "Therefore, Bodhisattvas, in front of the Buddhas, wishing to protect all the trainings, should make a vow. If there is no virtuous friend, in front of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, take vows according to one's ability. Therefore, according to one's ability, even if only taking one training, one should properly take and uphold it." Thus it is said. Regarding the cause of abandoning vows, according to the view of the noble Asanga, it is abandoning the aspiration to generate the vast Bodhicitta, and committing a root downfall with great entanglement. Among them, the former is being weary of the affairs of sentient beings, thinking that Bodhi is far away, and the Shravakas and self-

It is to generate the desire for the Buddha and outsiders. Secondly, one must also have a sense of shame, and without regret for this, let go with the mind, and offer the training in front of those who are not harmonious. The view of Master Shantideva is that in the Compendium of Trainings, for the harm of demonic activities, and the fourteen types of harm such as not holding the true Dharma, not abandoning them, or losing mindfulness, laziness, carelessness, not being proficient in transgressions, and having no sense of shame. The Lama said that not being proficient in the trainings, not having mindfulness, confusion, and disrespect, this is what is said in the Commentary on the Twenty Verses. Among them, the reason for not generating transgressions is: The view of the Holy Asanga is that, like this, having correct knowledge and mindfulness, diligence and caution, knowing faults and no faults, and having a sense of shame. The view of Master Shantideva is also that these commonalities are eliminated and abandoned by the fourteen harms. Restoring, and not violating from the beginning, is without regret. If one considers a fault to be a fault, it will be lightened, and if one confesses and repents, it will be purified, the Lamas also say this. The view of the Holy Asanga is that, like this, recovering from transgressions, in the Chapter on Discipline, it says, if there is no one who can serve as a teacher, etc. Also, if a great pervasive sin occurs, then one should confess in front of the Sangha, and retake the vows. Minor sins should be confessed to any of the Hearers or the Mahayana. Master Shantideva, in the Compendium of Trainings, says in the manner spoken by the Complete Buddha: "If there is no effort, one will fall into the lower realms." When explaining the meaning of the Sutra of the Four Dharmas of the Holy One, it is clearly recorded. The benefits of discipline, as stated in the Chapter on Discipline, are that the great aggregate of the Bodhisattva's discipline is the cause of generating the great fruit of Bodhi, and relying on this, one perfects the Paramita of discipline, thereby manifesting Buddhahood. Even until one has not attained Buddhahood, one will obtain five benefits, and will be remembered by the Buddhas.
