From a good lama, take vows.' Thus it is said. So, who is this good lama who possesses the true and good qualities? 'Skilled in the rituals of vows, one who dwells in vows, able to bestow vows and possessed of compassion, should be known as a good lama.' That is it. Among these, 'skilled in the rituals of vows' means skilled and proficient in them. 'Dwells in vows' means that the lama's discipline is without decay or breakage, and is pure. 'Able' means possessing the ability, that is, being ready to bestow vows without relying on others. 'Possessed of compassion' means having the perception of disciples as one's own children, and being unable to bear the suffering of others. The term 'lama' refers to one who has become a place to be made a lama, from whom one should receive (vows), and not from others. This is because one reverently regards him as a lama, follows him, has the attitude of a disciple, and has great respect for the meaning he teaches. Furthermore, that lama possesses four perfections: the perfection of discipline, the perfection of qualities, the perfection of intention, and the perfection of activity. Among these, 'one who dwells in which vows' indicates the perfection of discipline. 'Skilled in the rituals of vows, able to bestow vows' indicates the perfection of qualities. It is also said that 'dwells in vows' means that one cannot obtain vows from a lama who has abandoned vows, whose discipline is immoral, or who is not in accordance with the Dharma. 'Skilled in rituals' means (obtaining vows) from one who is skilled in rituals; if (obtaining vows) from one who does not know harmful rituals, then one cannot obtain vows because of the deficiency of the ritual itself. 'Able to bestow' means that it is good to enter into such a state with a very joyful mind. One is able to bestow vows, thinking, 'I should bestow vows without any doubt.' 'Possessed of compassion' indicates the perfection of intention and the perfection of activity. Among these, the perfection of intention is faith itself, doing it from the depths of one's heart, and possessing non-attachment and compassion. Respecting the lama, having few desires, knowing the rituals, not being greedy for material possessions, not being weary, being able to endure the faults of others, and being without anger or resentment. The perfection of activity

It is to expand the field for the sake of virtuous Dharma, to enter with reverence, to not be ignorant of the objects of training, to not be lazy, to not desire sensual pleasures, to not like noise, and to not let the mind wander. If one takes vows from such a lama, then the training of morality will increase. Such is: From a good lama who possesses true qualities, take vows. Thus I thought. Also, the ritual of taking vows, the number and the cause of abandoning vows, the cause of not abandoning vows and possessing them, are the benefits of morality. This is a brief explanation. Here, although there are the systems of many great scholars of the past, it is the Dharma of great beings, the great path of the great vehicle, so the system of Master Asanga and the system of the venerable Shantideva should be explained. The ritual of taking vows is extensively explained by Master Asanga in the chapter on morality, or one should look at the ritual I have made. The ritual without a master is also extensively explained in the same chapter on morality. The ritual I have made follows the noble Asanga. Master Shantideva also made this ritual in Engaging in Bodhisattva Deeds, but extensively explained it in the Compendium of Trainings. The ritual without a master is also clearly explained there. Here, I: If such effort, if a lama is not found, then the true ritual of taking vows from another should be explained. Among them, in the past, Manjushri, named, do not do any non-virtuous deeds. In between, here it is established as the ritual without a master, the ritual of Amba Raja, is the word of the ritual of both master and no master, because the lamas say so, here it is established as the ritual without a master. In the Compendium of Trainings, it is said that this is the ritual received from the master, but I am a follower of both systems, so the ritual received from the master is based on the chapter on morality and established, and the supreme ritual is based on the Compendium of Trainings and established. The nature of morality is the very nature of the complete sutra pitaka of the noble Asanga.
