Without dwelling with superior intention in the presence of all sentient beings, and generating the perception of showing to all Bodhisattvas, and uttering their true praises in the four directions, and because of not desiring the narrow vehicle, causing all those who ripen sentient beings to truly enter into the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. In particular, Bodhisattvas who desire to quickly attain direct realization should study the Mahayana Sutra called the Seven Dharmas, requested by Avalokiteshvara. As previously stated, "It should be spread everywhere with much effort." This is the meaning of that phrase. The venerable ones have said that there are three ways of spreading, among which the extensive spreading is: If it is not the self-nature of the entering mind vow, then the true aspiration will not increase. Those who wish to spread with the perfectly complete enlightenment vow, therefore, must diligently take this vow. Thus it is said. The so-called self-nature of the entering mind is the utterly pure superior intention. Furthermore, as it is said in the Noble Akashagarbha Sutra: "Son of the lineage! Bodhicitta, Bodhicitta, the so-called Bodhicitta, by what Dharma is it gathered? How does it abide constantly without turning back?" Akashagarbha replied: "Son of the lineage! Bodhicitta is gathered by two Dharmas, therefore it abides without turning back. What are the two Dharmas? They are intention and superior intention. By what are intention and superior intention gathered? Intention is gathered by non-deceit and non-fraud. Superior intention is gathered by non-attachment to it and by superior conduct. By what are these four gathered? They are gathered by eight Dharmas, non-deceit is gathered by honesty and clarity. Non-fraud is gathered by non-artificiality and purity of intention. Non-attachment to it is gathered by non-arrogance of mind and non-arrogance of diligence. Superior conduct is gathered by the accumulation of merit and the accumulation of wisdom." And so on, it is gathered by one hundred and twenty-eight Dharmas, and the details should be consulted in the Sutra itself. Furthermore, in the Noble Dharma Perfectly Gathered Sutra, it is also said: "Desiring excellent qualities is superior intention. Superior int

is beneficial to all living beings. It is loving-kindness towards all sentient beings. It is respect towards all noble ones. It is compassion towards worldly people. It is serving the guru. It is the protector, refuge, support, and haven for those who are helpless, without support, without refuge, and without a haven. These and other things have been said, and should be consulted in detail in the original text. Furthermore, it is said in that sutra that for a Bodhisattva with pure thoughts, Dharma arises even from the sky, walls, trees, rivers, forests, and so on, and pure instructions and teachings arise even from one's own conduct. Furthermore, in the "Arya Akshayamati Sutra," it is also said: "O son of Sharadvati, noble Shariputra, the superior intention of Bodhisattvas is inexhaustible. Why is that? Because all roots of virtue are especially focused on it. Even whatever a Bodhisattva thinks, all of that will be focused on with a superior intention that transcends good thoughts; the transition from one ground to another is a superior intention." And again: "O son of Sharadvati, this is the inexhaustible superior intention of Bodhisattvas." It will be taught thus: "Just as from good soil grow abundant forests and crops, so from the ground of good morality, all the Buddha's teachings will arise and increase." Here, this is examined. Regarding the meaning of aspiring Bodhicitta and engaging Bodhicitta, the great scholars of the past and the great scholars of the present explain it in various ways. Although I am able to understand their views, I will omit them here because the text would become too long. The meaning of these two is clearly explained in the sutras themselves. In the "Gandavyuha Sutra," it is said: "Noble son, those sentient beings who generate the mind of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment are rare. Even rarer are those sentient beings who set out towards unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment." Acharya Shantideva also said: "The mind of enlightenment is of two types: the aspiring mind of enlightenment and the
