It is, indeed. Fully understanding the taste, faults, and arising of all phenomena as they truly are is called diligence. Furthermore, diligence refers to subduing one's own mind, protecting the minds of others, eliminating delight in afflictions, and following the delight in Dharma, and so forth. This is called diligence. Lord of Secrets, one who possesses faith and diligence should be endowed with diligence, with which one will accomplish the Dharma of diligence and faith. Lord of Secrets, one who possesses faith, diligence, and effort should be endowed with mindfulness and awareness, so that the factors of enlightenment will not be wasted through mindfulness and awareness. Lord of Secrets, one who possesses faith, diligence, effort, mindfulness, and awareness should strive to apply effort properly. Lord of Secrets, the Bodhisattva who strives in proper application fully knows that what exists exists, and fully knows that what does not exist does not exist, up to the point of saying that in conventional truth, the eye and so forth exist. Similarly, it is said in that very text: "The Bodhisattva who strives for the benefit of sentient beings, through proper application, is separated from mind-nature. Constant diligence is the cause of immortality, and non-attachment is the cause of all happiness." It is also said: "By familiarizing oneself with the equality of self and others, the mind of enlightenment becomes firm. Self and other are interdependent; the near and far shores are truly false. Doubt that the other is not the far shore; what is relied upon to become this shore? If the self is not established by itself, what is relied upon to become other? If they suffer, it does not harm me, so I do not protect them. Future suffering does not harm you, so why protect them? At that time, one thinks it is oneself; this discrimination is inverted. Why is it that death is another, and birth there is also another? If another is born there, what is the use of merit for them? Why does the body age in youth, and wealth is made to create happiness? Dying in the womb and being born there, becoming a child.

is other. From a child to a youth, from then on entering adulthood, from then on becomes old, how can the body be one? Like this, each moment is different, the body is other, like nails and hair. If the child completely becomes a youth, then which stage is separate and existing? Please state the self-nature of the body. If the body is like a statue, then when the candle burns to ashes, it does not exist. If abandoning the coarse, existing as a subtle entity, does it fully exist there? It is merely pointing to oneself, so it cannot be called a body. There, I have no thought. The appearing body is destructible, associated with various stages, merely appearing in the mundane. If the scriptures also say it exists, then it is refuted by reason and scriptures. Like this, apart from qualities, the lord does not exist, and the three lords do not exist either. Similarly, if qualities exist, then it is also the three separate self-natures. The remaining nine types of travelers, without thought, such as clothes, etc., how can that be the self-nature of happiness? Happiness, etc., does not arise from cloth, etc., but happiness, etc., arises from cloth, etc. Because cloth, etc., has no cause, if there is none, then where is the happiness? Like this, through scriptures and reason, all conditioned phenomena are impermanent, and its cause-and-effect relationship is obvious, so there is no harm. That is seen from one's own continuum. For permanence, how can it be like that? Even the smallest dust particle is not one, because the distinction of directions is unreasonable. The oil of the candle is exhausted, and when it is exhausted, it does not appear. Like this, when things are exhausted, each moment does not appear. The continuum and the collection are also false like rosaries and armies. If one is accustomed to this and clings to self, why would it not arise for others? Therefore, one should understand travelers as one, like a collection of aggregates. From the time of non-arising, that suffering should be removed from the self-nature of others. If it is said that that will also become unreasonable, then others also have no self-nature. Whether it is me or others, whatever is unreasonable should be removed as much as possible. If suffering is increased because of compassion, why strongly increase it? If one examines the suffering of beings, how can suffering be increased because of compassion? Like this, the continuum has become accustomed, the suffering of others
