Living a life without regret, being born in the heavenly realms after death, and so on, because mindfulness is the root of all Dharmas. Is it because the statement "like the Udumbara flower" above does not use the true meaning as a metaphor? Answer: It is also mentioned in the Moon Treasury Sutra. Examples are also found in other sutras. Then, what are the merits of encountering a Buddha? From the aspect of merit, it is "whoever sees and hears," and so on. The term "meaningful" applies to everything. Because of the Buddhas' freedom, seeing leads to seeing wisdom. And so on, this shows that seeing is meaningful. Hearing the name of Ratnaśikhin three times leads to rebirth in the Trayastrimsha heaven, and so on, which shows that hearing is meaningful. Honoring and serving is meaningful, like the shepherd boy. Ultimately attaining Nirvana, therefore, is a guide. Some say, how is seeing, hearing, and honoring meaningful? It is said to be guiding the world. Actions are symbolic. Is it like the statement above, "The Tathagata may be seen or may not be seen"? It is also said in the Bhadrakalpa Sutra that one will not be seen for sixty kalpas, eighty thousand and three hundred kalpas. In this kalpa, the constellation kalpa, and the virtuous arrangement kalpas, one may be seen. The rarity of the Buddha's appearance has been discussed. From the explanations collected from all the sutras, combined with the authority of the scriptures, the talk about the rarity of the Buddha's appearance is the first part. Second, explaining the difficulty of being reborn as a human. It is said that "being reborn as a human is difficult" to indicate one's five endowments. So, what are one's five endowments? Namely, being born as a human, being born in the central land, having complete faculties, having faith in the Dharma, and not having committed evil deeds that lead to falling into the lower realms. So, what is being born as a human? For example, some are born equal to humans, possessing male organs or being born as a female, this is being born as a human.

It should be known. What is it to be born in the central country? For example, here, someone is born in the place of the four assemblies, the place of the virtuous, the place of the departed, the place where virtuous men go, the place of non-thieves, the place of non-barbarians, and is born in high castes with abundant enjoyments. This is called being born in the central country. What is it to have complete faculties? For example, here, someone is not foolish, not stuttering, not mute, not gesturing with hands, and is able to know the meaning of the well-spoken and ill-spoken dharmas, and has complete limbs and parts, without ear defects, etc. Because of the completeness of limbs and parts, there is a share of being able to perfectly accomplish virtuous things. This is called having complete faculties. What is it to have faith in the place? For example, here, someone has faith in the Dharma and Vinaya spoken by the Tathagata, and has obtained a joyful mind. This is called having faith in the place. The "place" here refers to the Dharma and Vinaya spoken by the Tathagata, which is the place of arising for all white dharmas of the world and beyond. By the power of its previous guidance, the faith that arises in it is called having faith in the place, because it has removed all defilements and turbidity of afflictions. What is it to have not inverted the limits of karma? That is, in this life, one has not done or instigated any of the five inexpiable karmas. This is called having not inverted the limits of karma. If in this life, one has done or accumulated these five inexpiable karmas, and has not completely abandoned them, then there is no share of completely pacifying and generating the noble path. Therefore, these limits of karma are called having not inverted the limits of karma. Because one makes one's own body an aid to the perfection of these five limbs, this is called one's own perfection. This is shown by analogy from the difficulty of obtaining. If the sutra says, "I have shown, the eight leisureless states should be abandoned," etc., even offering a single flower, one can ultimately be pacified.
