Tila. These are known as yungkaro. Monks, similarly, whether dwelling in a secluded place, or under a tree, or in an empty house, regarding this body, from the soles of the feet upwards, up to the hair and marrow, filled with various kinds of impurities, one should thoroughly examine each and every part as it truly is. As it is also said in the Sutra Requested by Dpas-byin: Here, the Bodhisattva should separately examine the initial and final causes of this body. It arises from the mixture of the father's semen and the mother's blood, so semen and blood are the initial cause of this body. The final cause is the digestion of food and so on. As soon as a mouthful of food is eaten, it goes to the place of phlegm. Having gone to the place of phlegm, it is completely saturated by phlegm and becomes very impure. After that, it goes to the place of bile, and having gone to the place of bile, it is digested and becomes sour, and then it goes to the place of wind. Having been digested and gone to the place of wind, the wind separates the waste and the essence. From the waste arise urine and vomit and other impurities. From the essence it turns into blood, from blood into flesh, from flesh into fat, from fat into bone, from bone into marrow, from marrow into semen, and from semen into this body. Therefore, the Bodhisattva should contemplate that since the initial and final causes are impure, the body is impure. Again, it comes from the same source: Thus, for this impure mass of a body, whoever shows reverence with manifest pride, that one with the mind of a child is manifestly like one who unknowingly carries a pot full of vomit and goes around. Pus drips from his nose, and an unpleasant odor always comes from his mouth. The eyes are filled with tears and have parasites. Who would be attached to and respect him? For example, a child holding charcoal, even if he rubs it saying he will make it white, it will not turn into a white object, but will be exhausted. Later, those with perverted pride are like that. Those who have a fastidious mind, saying that they will make my body clean, even if they rub and bathe on a hundred steps, will be exhausted by the power of the Lord of Death, and will not become clean.
