It is said in the Sutra: The Thusness does not decrease, nor does it increase. The realm of sentient beings also does not decrease, nor does it increase. It is not all afflictions, nor is it completely purified. It is also said: Distinguishing thoughts are changeable. If there are no distinguishing thoughts, there is nirvana. Whoever knows that nature is called wise. It is said like this. It is said in the Parinirvana Sutra: The Middle Way is the nature of the Buddha. It is said in the Brahma Net Sutra: How to practice the path? The answer is: Do not distinguish between Dharma and non-Dharma, and being without characteristics is practicing the path. This refers to not observing the nature of things. In this way, all conditioned and unconditioned dharmas should be meditated upon as emptiness. In this way, all that is named Dharma enters into emptiness, because there is nothing else to be observed, so it is free from discrimination and observation, without words, and the attention that becomes one state enters naturally. Because there is no fabrication, one should very clearly meditate and abide in the Suchness itself. Abiding in this way, do not let the continuity of consciousness waver. In this way, one enters the state of non-proliferation and non-discrimination. One does not abide in form, etc. If one observes with wisdom, because one does not observe the nature of all things, one is also the meditator of supreme wisdom. When one sees that the mind is not happy with it, one should cultivate joy in it because one sees the merits of samadhi. If, because of the oppression of drowsiness and sleep, the movement is not clear, when one sees that the mind is sinking or suspects sinking, one should remember extremely joyful things, such as the Buddha's image, etc., or dependent origination, or the twelve links, etc., and after pacifying the sinking, one should very firmly grasp the Suchness itself. If, when desire for the manifested object causes the mind to be intermittently agitated or suspects agitation, one should remember impermanence, and the faults of this life and the next, and since one will not be together forever, why should one be particularly attached to this?

One should think in this way to pacify excitement. Then, one should strive to let the mind enter into that very suchness without any mental fabrication. If, at any time, one enters equally because of being separated from sinking and excitement, and enters naturally, then at that time, the mind becomes very clear about that very suchness itself, and at that time, one should leave the effort in the open space and remain in equanimity. At that time, one should recognize that the path of uniting calm abiding and insight has been accomplished. After that, the yogi should meditate and abide only on that very suchness, without any mental fabrication, for as long as the joy lasts. In this way, one should meditate and abide for one mealtime, or half a mealtime, or one hour, or as long as one can, or even until the small drum is struck. If it is harmful to the body and mind, one should occasionally look at the entire world and understand it as like an illusion, like a dream, like a moon in water, like an eye disease. As it is said in the Dharani of Entering Non-Discrimination: "All the dharmas of wisdom that transcend the world should be seen as equal to the center of the sky. What is obtained after that should be seen as like an illusion, a mirage, a moon in water." It is said like that. After that, one should also meditate on non-discrimination. If that is harmful to the body and mind, one should focus on the mind, contemplate the entire world as mentioned above, and correctly make aspirations such as the Noble Conduct of Excellent. One should also perfect the Paramitas. If one does so, although in the ultimate truth all dharmas are unborn, just like an illusion, due to the power of the convergence of various distinct causes and conditions, if one does not analyze, only various pleasant experiences will arise. Therefore, one will not fall into nihilistic views. One will also not fall into the extreme of superimposition, because if one analyzes with wisdom, one will not find anything. Therefore, one will not fall into the extreme of permanence and superimposition. It is said that during the meditation on non-discrimination, virtuous conditioned dharmas and all unconditioned dharmas will also gather. If someone asks, how is the generation of Bodhicitta gathered in the non-discriminating dharma of the Great Vehicle? The Diamond Sutra says: "Thought"
