No, because they are completely free from afflictions. Therefore, the dhyanas are the domain of beings who are proud of pleasure. The formless realms are the domain of those who are proud of liberation. Loving-kindness and compassion are for those who are suffering. Joy and equanimity are for those who are liberated. Supernormal knowledges are for those who rely on bad refuges, in order to enter with special power. In order to attain non-declining dhyana and so forth, this ground is distinguished by them. Even in the previous grounds, it is not that there is no entering into samadhi. Here are the five supernormal knowledges. As it is said in the sutra: He experiences various kinds of magical actions, even causing the earth to shake. From one he becomes many, and from many he becomes one. He appears and disappears. He goes through walls, through fences, and through mountains without obstruction. He walks in the sky, emerges on the earth, and dives like a bird. He walks on water as on land. He emits smoke and burns. Like a great cloud, he emits water from his body, with which he can pacify everything that is burning in the three-thousand great-thousand world system. He touches the sun and moon with his hand. He can even control with his body up to the Brahma world. He gives individual appearances and pleasure. He radiates light. With the divine ear faculty that transcends human abilities, he hears the sounds of gods and humans. He hears the sounds of hell beings, animals, and hungry ghosts. Even the sounds of those who are afflicted, such as flesh flies, long-beaked flies, insects, birds, and bees, and he strives to eliminate those sufferings. Abiding here, he listens to the Buddhas teaching the Dharma in various Buddhafields. He also truly knows the minds of other beings and persons with his mind, knowing that a mind with desire is with desire, and similarly, for

Being free from attachment, and with hatred, and free from hatred, and with ignorance, and from a mind free from ignorance, until the unsurpassed mind is known as the unsurpassed mind, just as it is. One can also remember one lifetime, as well as two or three lifetimes, and even remember hundreds of thousands of kotis of lifetimes. One can also remember one day, two days, three days, and even hundreds of thousands of kotis of kalpas. In a certain place, my name will be so-and-so, my clan will be such, my lineage will be such, my food will be such, I will live for such a long time, and the end of my life will be such. After dying from there, I will be reborn in a certain place, and even after dying from there, I will be reborn here. Even with limbs, with forms, with purposes, and with reasons, one can remember many past lives. One can also cause others to remember those past lives. Therefore, with a pure and transcendent divine eye, one sees sentient beings, sees death and birth, sees those who have been born, sees those with beautiful colors and those with ugly colors, sees those who are inferior and those who are noble, sees the good realms and the bad realms, and truly knows the sentient beings who are close to the good and bad realms. These sentient beings are virtuous in body, virtuous in speech, virtuous in mind, do not slander the noble ones, and have right view. Because of the cause of virtuous conduct, after the body is destroyed, they are reborn in the good realms, in the heavens. These sentient beings are evil in body, evil in speech, evil in mind, slander the noble ones, and have wrong view. Because of taking up the cause of wrong view, after the body is destroyed and death, they fall into the evil realms, evil paths, and the hells of wrong view. Thus, with the divine eye, in the ten directions of the world, in all the realms of the world, pervaded by the realm of Dharma, even to the edge of the realm of space, one sees the sentient beings of the six realms.
