To those practitioners who are dedicated to this, it should be said, "What is the use of examining meaningless things?" Because the involvement of thought is necessarily accompanied by purpose. If phenomena such as persons and forms are completely non-existent, then how can one prove selflessness? Therefore, it is mentioned, "Regarding such forms of things," and so on. That is to say, regarding things that are known to have function, by negating the clinging to them, one can prove that persons and so on are selfless; through negation, one can refute the essence of the inverted clinging to things such as forms. But it is not without basis that one negates things such as persons that are incapable. Then, how should one prove it for other things? Therefore, it is mentioned, "For other things, there is neither proof nor negation," and so on. Then, for those who consider persons and so on to be permanent and inexpressible forms, how can selflessness be established? How can a reason be established for these people? Therefore, it is mentioned, "Therefore, things that have function," and so on. Precisely because of this, the wise call things that have function the characteristic of reality, and things that have function are necessarily momentary. Because it is contradictory for other things to produce effects sequentially or simultaneously. If the momentary nature is also negated for the subject, the person, then there is no need to laboriously overturn the existence pervaded by momentariness as previously stated; this itself is already established. Furthermore, the establishment of the reason is shown through "not momentary, not momentary," and so on: if it becomes momentary, then because other different natures arise, it will become multiple natures. If it is not momentary, then because other subsequent natures do not arise, and the previous nature has not disappeared, it will become a single nature. If both natures are impossible, then how could it not become detached from the nature of one and many? If the pervader disappears, then the pervaded will not exist, because the pervader will become non-pervading. Therefore, for a person, the establishment of the reason is inevitable.

Yes. For the time being, it has been established that such permanent aggregates are devoid of the nature of one and many. Again, if it is not like that, if it is established as two aggregates, in order to thoroughly establish that all things are devoid of the nature of one and many, it is said, "Others, again, by others," and so on. What is called pervasive is that which exists everywhere, such as self and space, and so on. The opposite should be understood as non-pervasive. The gross are those with limbs. Atoms and so on are the subtle ones. When explaining the former aggregate, it has been understood that impermanent things are included in the non-pervasive aggregate. Therefore, those do not need to be separately and thoroughly established as being devoid of the nature of one and many. Whatever vases and so on have different directions, those are called that. Obscured and unobscured are obscured and unobscured. The objects of those two are obscuration itself and so on. The word "and so on" includes movement and non-movement itself and so on. Combination refers to whatever vases and so on have different directions, those are definitely not of the same nature, just like the Azadirachta indica tree in various containers. Objects such as space also become pervasive because they have different directions, which is a contradictory appearance; this is to establish a fallacy. In order to show the pervasiveness of the reason, it is said that space and so on are connected to trees and so on of different directions. If one does not admit that the natures are different, then all the clear natures connected to space and so on will become the same direction, because the nature of the generality and so on connected to one object is its own essence. It is not like that; if the directions are different, then the generality and so on itself will not exist elsewhere, because that is its own essence summarized by one clear thing. Because there is no other different nature, if there is no nature, then it is definitely not permissible to connect. Gross things also, because there exist mutually contradictory dharmas such as obscured and unobscured themselves, embodied and disembodied
