Therefore, it is reasonable to do so here. The reason for mentioning "scripture" and so on is that scripture that has not been validated by valid cognition can also be directed elsewhere. Those who follow by faith alone will not generate certainty and therefore will not be completely satisfied. The word "also" indicates that for those with perverse minds, what need is there to even mention them? Mentioning reliance on the power of things themselves is to exclude inference that is well-known from scripture, because it is also similar to scripture, and like scripture, it does not ascertain, and therefore it does not satisfy. Reason, however, generates certainty and therefore brings complete satisfaction. If that is the case, then reason alone would be sufficient; what is the purpose of scripture? It is not so, because scripture is the adornment of reason. If it were not so, some unwise people would also scornfully say, "This is the investigation of dry logicians." Or, separated from inherent existence, or which are separated from inherent existence? Arranging the words in this way, this is the result of valid cognition. The formulation is as follows: Whatever is not of the nature of one or many is, in ultimate terms, without inherent existence, like a reflection. The things spoken of by myself and others are also not of the nature of one or many, which is the non-apprehension of pervasion, because oneness and multiplicity pervade inherent existence. To show that very pervasion, it is said, "If there were inherent existence." "One" refers to indivisibility. "The other" refers to multiplicity, which is a synonym for "different." If the essence of something cannot be distinguished, then whatever cannot be completely distinguished is the characteristic of existing by abandoning it. For example, if the essence of non-things cannot be distinguished, then it cannot be completely distinguished. Similarly, both oneness and multiplicity, if their essences cannot be distinguished from each other, then they are those that cannot be completely distinguished, which is determined by convention. Therefore, they are characteristics of existing by abandoning each other. This also explains permanence and impermanence, sequence and non-sequence, and so on. Characteristics of existing by abandoning each other.

Those things that we consider to exist, there also exists a oneness, and negation is the negation of other things, and if existence does not exist, then it is non-existence itself, therefore it can be understood that there are no other aggregates. For example, things and non-things, singularity and multiplicity, are also characteristics that exist mutually exclusively. Therefore, since there are no other aggregates, it is universally established that self-nature is encompassed by singularity and multiplicity. The aggregates and the principal things, etc., spoken of by one's own school and outsiders, saying that those do not actually exist, this is the collection of the dharma of the school. Actually, it means showing without contradicting direct perception, etc. So, what is this proving will become a fallacy? Or is it proving with one's own reasoning? If it is thought to be the former, then at that time the reason is not established, because others do not admit that all things are separate from one and many. If it is said to be the latter, then even so it is extremely unestablished, because one does not admit the basis oneself, and also for the opponent, one's own entity is not established, so do not doubt that this reason is not established. How is it? It says "Fruits are connected in sequence," etc. Thinking like this, for the time being, what is the self-nature of the non-famous things such as space that others have observed, that is only proven by reductio ad absurdum, and for the famous self-nature, there is no fault in either way, because others admit that all things exist as two aggregates of permanence and impermanence. Among them, for the time being, for me and other non-famous self-natures, although it is also admitted to be self-nature singularity, those do admit to being connected with consciousness, etc., which are connected in sequence with fruits, therefore indirectly deducing that there is no self-nature singularity, so for the time being it is only established that it is separated from singularity. Because it is admitted to be permanent, it is also extremely easy to establish separation from multiplicity, this is the concise meaning. Those, refers to the permanent dharmas. The things admitted by one's own school and other schools
