Therefore, the reason for saying "non-existence" is that "existence" is a prerequisite. If "existence" does not exist, then "non-existence" also does not exist, which is a good explanation. Therefore, it should not be said that the two do not exist, because they abide in the nature of mutual dependence and thorough examination. Someone might think that even before arising, existence and non-existence do not exist, but after arising and ceasing, the existence and non-existence of things (dngos po) can be established. For this thought, it is said, "In what does nothing arise," etc. For the yogi, he sees that in any goer, as previously examined, no nature arises and no cessation exists, then existence and non-existence do not exist. This is certain, this is the remaining part. The meaning here is the meaning of these two sutras. Therefore, "what was said by Good Intelligence" refers to the venerable face of the Holy Nagarjuna. "Whoever has self, object, other, and object" indicates attachment to self, because distinguishing between self and other is caused by self-grasping. "Things and non-things" indicates the discrimination of dharmas. "Not a true view" is because it becomes the place of view. Someone might think, when is the true view? Therefore, it is said, "Whoever relies on things," etc. "They are not robbed by views" because they abandon the two extremes of addition and defamation and enter the Middle Way. "That" refers to things. "Where is it" means that it is non-existence itself. "Emptiness is also empty" means that whatever is called emptiness is also empty itself. "Arising" refers to universal function. "This" refers to being pervasive in all things, not limited to individual things. "In that, all meanings arise" means that all worldly and transworldly perfections will come. Here, the first verse is what the teacher said in the root verses of the Mulamadhyamakakarika. The second is reason.

English

It is said in the Sixty Stanzas. The third and fourth are said in the Seventy Stanzas on Emptiness. The fifth is said in the Refutation of Disputes. Therefore, the reason for saying "therefore" is that the entire realm of phenomena has been established as emptiness by valid cognition. The term "empty of prior limit" means empty in the past time. It is synonymous with saying that it was never truly produced in the past. The term "also empty of posterior limit" means empty in the future time. It will not be produced there either, which is its synonym. "The phenomena of arising, ceasing, and abiding are empty." This shows that even in the present time, emptiness is shown as empty by its very nature of emptiness. Why is it empty in all three times? To this, it is said, "This is not a thing that exists," and so on. Because the word "because" is connected in a different order, it is connected with the preceding. Therefore, the meaning is that because in the ultimate sense, things are neither existent nor non-existent, therefore all dharmas are always empty of inherent nature. Then, "If it is conceptual," and so on, this is to state the harm to the proposition by direct perception, etc. Just like this, the nature of phenomena is free from the aspect of superimposition, so the word of emptiness is spoken. The nature of phenomena is also direct perception, so the emptiness that has become its nature is also only direct perception. If this is admitted, then emptiness is not directly realized by children, so it is harmed by direct perception. Because it can be established as an object of focus, it becomes non-existent by not focusing, so it is also harmed by inference. "The unwise" refers to children. If it is thought that it is not realized because it is not direct perception, to this, it is said, "Because of direct perception," and so on. Because the self-nature of emptiness is the nature of phenomena, if it is realized, because there is no difference, it is only direct perception. It is impossible for it not to be direct perception, so why is it not realized? "If it is realized," and so on, is explained from the opposite perspective. If that is the case, establishment and happiness are different, so there is no difference.
