Those truly existent things are also merely diverse. As stated earlier, it is because the consciousnesses of form, etc., which take form, etc., as their objects, are diverse. Those who rely on the views of our own Mind-Only school and are called possessors of pure wisdom are the Yogacharas. The phrase "arising from the complete ripening of habits in accordance with consciousness" is a combination of words. Any unimpeded habit that exists in the continuum of sentient beings is called "that." The ripening of that habit is complete ripening, which is synonymous with "obtaining entry." That complete ripening is emanation, which is production. Here, to illustrate the point, sense bases such as form, etc., are mentioned. The term "substance and qualities, etc." refers to the speculations of the Vaisheshikas, etc. The word "etc." includes actions, universals, particulars, and inherence. This indicates that because there is no external object, consciousness is merely without a grasper. To show that even if there is an external object, consciousness is merely empty of the aspects of grasper and grasped, it is stated, "because it is also free from the nature of what is to be touched and the toucher," etc. For the moment, even if there is no aspect, it is not reasonable to cognize an external object merely by its existence, because that would be too extreme. Or, is it because it is the fruit of the object? Or, it is not reasonable to cognize it merely by relying on a collection, because that would be too extreme for the eye, etc. It is not enough to merely have the aspect of an object, because that would be too extreme, so that other similar minds would also grasp it. It is also not enough to be similar to the object or to arise from the object, because that would be too extreme, so that the similar, immediately following, cause that agrees with the meaning would also become the object itself. Because it is impossible for the nature of what is to be touched and the toucher to exist in these and other ways, these things appear to be like the nature of illusions, etc. If one wonders what the cause is for these things to appear in this way, then "beginningless existence" etc. is mentioned. Because the clinging to things has a state of beginningless existence, it is called that.

E. What is the habit generated by manifest clinging? The complete ripening of that habit is the attainment of entry itself. The power of the complete ripening of the habit is the ability, which is a synonym for the term "lord." From that power, these aspects appear, which is also a synonym for "without external objects." That which is called virtue is because it is the most excellent of all systems. That thing, which is also called self or what, is the essence of aspects such as blue. This system, with valid cognition and so forth, explains the meaning of the verses in detail. This which is called "this" is a synonym for "this." Those who engage with objects are those who have objects. Those who are both object-possessors and infinite, thus connecting the words. Because it is the antidote to the evil clinging of those who have objects, or the infinite evil clinging of those who have objects. Thinking about what is extremely clear valid cognition, one mentions things like extremely subtle particles. What was said before, like, "Because of mixing with different sides, how can the pervasive become one alone?" and so forth. To show that it can also be understood by scripture, one mentions that it also possesses scripture and so forth. Like an image, it is a synonym for "like an image." Although it appears, it should be connected with the aspect of things. "Habituated by beginningless mind" means habituated, that is, defiled, by that which has manifest clinging to beginningless things. Or, it is habituated from beginningless samsara. If the mind has the aspect of things, then it would be admitting that it exists. Thinking that it would be admitted in this way, one mentions "meaningless." "Seeing correctly as it is" means examining things with the essence of one and many, which is a synonym for "not appearing as meaningful." In this way, the selflessness of phenomena is explained. To mainly explain the selflessness of persons, one mentions "person," because some say that the person who transmigrates in other lives and lifetimes is considered to be substantially existent. Others say that it will transmigrate.
