It should be connected in this way. How to connect it? It arises dependent on causes and conditions, and is of the nature of being subject to others. Why is it thought that the body is not tainted by the faults of conceptualization? Explanation: It is merely the appearance of consciousness, the appearance of consciousness that is devoid of conceptualization, which is called the appearance of consciousness. The word "merely" is stated to sever the consciousness that arises together with conceptualization. Form and so on are for the sake of self-awareness. Not only is it impossible to deny, but if one denies it, it will only cause harm to the denier himself. It should be connected in this way. By what? Explanation: By direct perception and so on. By mentioning "and so on," inference and so on should be included. If one examines the appearance of form and so on with regard to true arising and so on, that is what can be denied. Denying the chief and so on, what appearance is being denied? Is it not? Explanation: It is the appearance of conceptualization, the chief and so on are true. Thus and so on are mentioned. The word "and so on" includes self and so on. The experience of appearance, the nature of permanence and so on, which is the cause of things, is what is denied by other schools such as the Samkhya. How is it examined? Explanation: It is true. Some say that if conditioned phenomena are true, they will not arise. The word "true" is a distinction of denial. Therefore, if conditioned phenomena are true, they will not arise, which means that true things do not arise. If that is the case, then they will not arise even in conventional truth. Therefore, you will incur the fault of contradicting your own commitment. To refute this, it is explained: Examining true arising and so on is not to deny what does not appear. The word "true" is not a distinction of denial, but it indicates this: What the opponent has committed to, true arising, should be denied, this is not a distinction of denial. Therefore, how can it contradict the commitment? How can conventional truth not exist? This is what is said. In order to establish other-dependence, the sutras spoken by the noble ones are all applicable to this, as shown.
