and so on. If so, how can others experience the karma created by this person? If someone asks this, how should it be understood? In response, the sutra says, "For a single continuum," and so on. Because it relies on other continuums, and the nature of many momentary continuums, the objects of cause and effect, relying solely on the worldly attachment to many things, and clinging to them as one, it is for this reason that the doer and the receiver are shown. It is shown that whoever is the creator of karma is also the enjoyer. This is what the Blessed One said in order to subdue the thoughts of sentient beings. Otherwise, sentient beings would think that karma and its results are cut off, so temporarily, in order to let sentient beings follow both the sentient world and the container world, it is said this way. Therefore, the sutra says that the aggregates, elements, and sources that are grasped there will ripen. Similarly, the sutra says that the karma of thought is the karma of thought that arises from thought. It is said thus: Karma increases, producing various worlds. Karma is thought and what is done by thought. Thought is the karma of mind, and from this arise the karmas of body and speech. It is also said: The sentient world and the container world are emanations of various minds. Karma is not other than mind, and all beings are said to arise from mind. Therefore, there is no other karma other than mind. When virtuous and non-virtuous minds arise and cease, in the moment of the mind that arises from one's own close taking, it leaves behind the habitual tendencies of virtuous and non-virtuous actions. The other habitual tendencies left by it, the other moments manifested and performed by it, when operating in an uninterrupted manner, the completely transformed differences gradually arise. Corresponding to the differences in karma, the result of the nature of the mind, which has the nature of happiness and so on, will arise in the next life, it is said. For example, the differences in the conditions of land and seeds, etc., gathering together, the differences obtained from this, arising from the first moment, become the result of one's own close taking.

The collection that transforms in the second moment, giving rise to a state that is in accordance with the result, and the subsequent states are different from each other. From the difference of the continuum that has completely transformed, one obtains the arising of the excellent characteristic of the final moment. It can give rise to seeds and rice that are in accordance with them, as well as the sprouts of cotton. In any case, seeds such as Matulunga that have been completely soaked in barley juice, when planted, their manifested continuum enters, and the flowers and so on become red. It is impossible for them to enter simultaneously in the time of the previous and subsequent lives. For good and non-good, as well as similar things, it is not appropriate to overemphasize them, since they are established by conceptual thought. Just like this: Whose continuum is this, from the establishment of the karmic imprints, the result transforms into that, just like a dyer dyeing cloth. Therefore, even if there is no self in seeds and so on, the results are each definite, and the definite arising will also arise in sequence. Similarly, in the present situation, even if there is not a single thing that goes to the next world, since the entities of cause and effect are definite, the result is also definite. Since the continuum compounded by karma and afflictions enters without interruption, it is said that one will obtain the result in the next world. Therefore, there is no fault of encountering what has not been done and wasting what has been done. Therefore, even if there is no self, there is no unreasonableness in the relationship between karma and result. In any case, if one were to elaborate as if there were an unreasonable self, it would become very tedious, so it is not elaborated here. Just like this: The aggregates of no-self are merely, manifested by afflictions and karma, the continuum of the intermediate existence, enters the womb like a lamp. So it is said. Those who assert the existence of a person, also because they have promised to negate the aspects of this and other, they themselves are negating the entity, because the entity does not go beyond the difference of this and other. To mutually abandon and possess, to negate one, if one does not abandon the other, it will not exist. The sutras such as the Burden Sutra also clarify this meaning. Therefore, the Bhagavan
