It is what discerns. That is the object called "that." As for the word "also," it means "is," because it can easily enter into itself. (This is) with the word "also." The so-called "conventional truth will not be lost either" means that if it is not examined, it is only the conventional truth that likes to be lost that is acknowledged. The so-called "this" refers to the chariot. The so-called "flawless and" is because it conforms to worldly language. The so-called "with benefits" is because it will easily enter into oneness. Now, even if it has been determined that there is no chariot, if others cannot tolerate the absence of parts, then to establish the previous view, (the sutra) says "Here it is said," etc., in order to answer. It says "It should be explained," etc., it says "It is something to be laughed at," etc., this is because even if there is no chariot, one seeks for parts, which is like searching for threads in ashes after a cloth has been burned, so you are worthy of being laughed at. To show that, (the sutra) says "If the chariot does not exist at all," etc. The so-called "at that time" refers to the time when the chariot is not seen. The so-called "without parts, its parts also do not exist" means that if there are no parts, then what will become parts at that time? Because the part-possessor depends on the various parts. The so-called "its" refers to the part-possessor. To show that others think that even without a part-possessor, the parts still exist, (the sutra) says "If," etc. The so-called "the chariot is broken" refers to the time when the nails are removed. If it is said, "Without a part-possessor, the parts also do not exist, how can you say that?" this means that even if there is no chariot, the parts of the chariot still exist. To answer that, (the sutra) says "That is not so," etc. The so-called "only through recognizing the connection" means that whoever has previously seen the spokes, etc., connected to the chariot, only he will think that this is a part of the chariot, but those who have not seen the connection will not. If the parts of the chariot are established as parts by their own nature, then at that time, even without seeing the connection, one would know, but in reality, it is not knowing. Therefore, the spokes, etc., are parts.
