Birth exists in dependence on ignorance and so forth, because one would not conceive that the perversion of a barren woman's son arises from it either. Furthermore, why is it that although both are equally unoriginated by nature, one is seen as arising dependently, while the other is not? This should be asked of worldly people alone, not of me. Therefore, dependent arising is the perversion of the world. Some of those that are equally unoriginated by nature are seen as arising dependently, while others are not. Logically, all phenomena are not fully examined like the son of a barren woman, but when examined slightly, they are established as perverse. For example, it is not proper for someone with cataracts to be completely attached to unreal hairs. Just as those without cataracts examine, it is said to be seen as perverse. Therefore, the Buddha, the Bhagavan, like a great physician, teaches beings about the absence of inherent existence, thereby causing the conceptualizations that grasp as real things that are not their cause to be reversed from the nature of perversion. Having completely reversed from conceptualization, one abides in the suchness of the dharmata of phenomena. Abiding in that, one does not falsely impute what is not real, therefore obtaining nirvana, which is called liberation. Thus, since it has entered into perversion, ignorance and formations do not have inherent existence. If that is so, these two do not have inherent existence, and if those without inherent existence exist, how can there be dependent arising? How can these things without inherent existence arise dependently? To this, the teacher clearly explained with an example, saying: "Like the place relied upon in a dream, Pleasure and pain have no nature, that place is also like that. Whatever arises in dependence, Does not have such a nature, By the very nature of dependence, That itself is also not existent." Just as the pleasure and pain experienced only in a dream, the forms and sounds, etc., obtained closely to things in a dream, arise in dependence on following the cause that produces it, it is established in the dream itself. What arises from it also has no inherent existence, and the dream also when awakened

Similarly, because the experience is not regarded as true. It is not that mere happiness and suffering are without essence, the realm of dreams is also interdependent, and that realm is also interdependent, therefore it is without inherent existence. Just as the realm of dreams and whatever arises from it, happiness and suffering, both are false. Similarly, even when awake, there is no cause called ignorance from which the result called action arises. Like the realm attained in a dream, its cause is the meaning of ignorance. Because the two are always manifestly related, the sound of whatever is there, that sound is placed nearby. Likewise, by the example of what is attained in a dream, there is no cause called ignorance, and similarly, by the example of happiness and suffering experienced in a dream, the result of that, action, also arises dependent on the cause of ignorance, therefore it is also not truly existent, this is related to this. Therefore, just as the interdependence of happiness and suffering experienced in a dream, the cause of happiness and suffering, the realm, is also interdependent, ignorance and action are not established without being inverted. Here some say, the realm of forms and sounds etc. in dreams, from consciousness, exists powerfully as an external nature, therefore there is no interdependence, and happiness and suffering are my own nature that I am experiencing, interdependent things exist in their own nature. As it is said, it is unreasonable to be non-existent like interdependence by reason. Because the self-nature of cause and effect is not established, there is no interdependence, and interdependence is established from its own self-nature. If it is only established as consciousness, then the example of a dream is reasonable, because in a dream there is no realm different from consciousness, there is only consciousness, so it is said. Here it is said, whoever says this, that is consciousness
