Thus: If something does not exist by its own nature, how can it produce something else? Therefore, other conditions that are established from others are not producers. At any time, if its own nature is not achieved without depending on the result, how can it produce the result without itself being established? If it produces, then even a barren woman's daughter would produce a son. Therefore, other conditions that are established from others are not producers. What is different from oneself, transformed into another, means that the conditions such as ignorance, which are established by depending on the result, are not the producers of results such as actions that are different from oneself. If they exist established without depending on each other, then it would be reasonable to say that the cause is different from the result, the result is different from the cause, and that it is the cause. However, it has already been established that the cause and the result do not exist established without depending on each other. Therefore, since actions do not exist as different entities from ignorance, it cannot be said that ignorance exists as a different entity without depending on actions. Likewise, if ignorance and so on do not exist as different entities from actions and so on, then it cannot be established that actions arising from ignorance exist as different entities. Whoever is like that, therefore, other conditions that are established from others are not producers. Therefore, here, it is established that actions exist depending on ignorance, and ignorance exists depending on actions, so it is temporarily said that cause and result are not the same entity. Having said that the self does not produce the self, then by depending on each other, cause and result are established. Because one's own nature is not established by depending on each other, it is said that cause and result are also not other. Because of that self, there is neither one nor other, therefore, dependent arising, which is free from the extremes of permanence and annihilation, is established and arises completely. As it is said: Whatever arises from conditions, temporarily that self does not produce that self, nor does it arise from another, therefore it is neither permanent nor annihilated. Thus, it is also very clear that dependent arising is without self-nature. As it is said: One and other

Separate. Sentient beings are like illusions, inseparable from change and destruction. We, the realized ones, do not slander you. If causes and effects are established as being mutually dependent, then, being established as mutually dependent, will they also be established like father and son? Answer: Father is not son, son is not father, they are not mutually non-existent, they are not simultaneous either, like that are the twelve links. Father is not son, because the so-called father is the generator, how can he become the generated? Son is also not father, because son is the generated, how can he become the generator? Thus, for the moment, father is not son, and son is not father. Because they are not different entities, therefore the two are not mutually non-existent, if there is no son, then the father is not justified, because he is justified as the father by the action of generating. If there is no son, what does he generate to become the father? If the father has no son, he is not established either, therefore it is said that if there is no father, the son is also not justified, the two are not mutually non-existent. The two are also not simultaneous, if the two are simultaneous, then like the left and right horns of a cow, there will be no generator and generated. Just as father and son are not established, so also the dependent origination of the twelve links is not established, ignorance is not action, and action is not ignorance, the two are not mutually non-existent, and the two are not simultaneous. This should be applied equally to all. If the self-nature of ignorance and action is not established, then it is not reasonable for actions to arise based on ignorance, just as based on the son of a barren woman who does not exist, his son will not arise. If the self-nature of ignorance and action is established, then these, like the present, will not become dependent origination. Just as the son of a barren woman does not arise based on anything, but it is said that action arises based on ignorance, therefore, like the son of a barren woman is not the meaning of dependent origination. Then, both are equally unborn by nature, thus, on the inverted
