It is said: Rely on virtuous people, listen to the Dharma, and contemplate it properly. It is said: If there is a cause, then its number must exist. But in reality, it does not exist. To explain how it does not exist, it is said: Without one, there is no many; without many, there is no one. Therefore, things that arise dependently are without characteristics. Here, the term used to distinguish different things is called "number" in the world. That is, these different things are counted and calculated, so the number is one, two, and many, and so on. Among them, from the number one, a countable "one" is distinguished. Similarly, from the number two, two things are distinguished, and from the number many, many things are distinguished. Among them, if a certain "one" can be established without relying on many things, then it can become the number of "one." However, without relying on many, the nature of one thing itself cannot be established. For example, those things that arise from oneself and the fifteen dharmas are not a "one" dharma that exists without relying on the fifteen dharmas. Furthermore, if one wants a colored thing here, then in the desire realm, it is the nature of eight substances. Because it transcends the senses, it is not the ultimate particle of sound. Without relying on the seven substances, its own nature cannot be established. Or, if in the form realm, it is the nature of mind and mental factors. Because "mind and mental factors must be together," if all are added together, it must rely on the nature of eleven substances. Or, for non-associated formations, it is also like this. Because "they are the arising of birth, etc., they include eight dharmas and one dharma," like that, relying on many, there is not one thing. When there is not one thing without relying on many like this, one thing cannot be established. How can there be accumulation if one cannot accumulate? If there is no accumulation of one, then the existence of many is impossible. Just as the noble one said: "Whatever thing is analyzed, there is no one in it. Where there is not even one, there will be no future." That's how it is. When there is a thing that does not rely on many things like this.

When one thing does not exist, it is unreasonable for many to be valid for the non-existence of one thing. Whenever one thing does not exist, it is unreasonable for many to exist. When many do not exist, the 'one' that arises from its connection also does not exist, so it is said. Without many, one does not arise. This means that without many, one is impossible. Where there is no one or many things in one, how can the number of one or the number of many themselves be established? Therefore, there is no number. Even if there is no number, the reason established by the reason for the existence of number will not be established. Here it is said, if 'one' does not exist, then there will be no name for 'one', such as 'one pot'; if many do not exist, then there will be no name for many, such as 'many pots'. Answer: Who would say that? Saying 'one does not exist, and many do not exist'. I deny the establishment of the self-nature of 'one' and 'many' things, because from there, their own self-nature is not established. Therefore, things are dependently originated, without characteristics. It is only because their self-nature is not established that things become dependently originated. Because the production of things with self-nature is meaningless. Images and so on that do not have self-nature established are close to dependent origination. Therefore, all dharmas are without characteristics, and all dharmas are established as emptiness, or because there is no self-nature, there is no complete distinction between each other, therefore there are no characteristics. All things are without distinction, and are the self-nature of 'one', that is its meaning. Also, because it is not the object of discriminative consciousness, it is without characteristics. Because discriminative consciousness takes characteristics as its object. If the object of discriminative consciousness is distinguished from other objects by some difference, and abides in its own object, then it will abide. However, since the object of difference has no self-nature, it does not exist. Therefore, since it is not the object of discriminative consciousness, things are without characteristics. Others also speak in other ways. Here, it is necessary to merge the meaning into the meaning for the sake of the meaning of the name. They also distinguish names that are different from themselves by mutually distinguishing them,
