If, in terms of ultimate truth, there is going, then does it exist in what has gone, what has not gone, or what is going? To that, briefly speaking, there is no going in what has gone, because the act of going has passed. There is also no going in what has not gone, because the act of going has not begun. There is no going in what is going, apart from what has gone and what has not gone, because it would be harmful to infer two possibilities. Just as it is shown, here too, if, in terms of ultimate truth, there is a goer, then does he exist in what has gone, what has not gone, or what is going? To that, briefly speaking, there is no goer in what has gone, because the act of the goer has passed. There is also no goer in what has not gone, because the act of the goer has not begun. There is no going in what is going, apart from what has gone and what has not gone, because it would be harmful to infer two possibilities. Combine this with the above. Because the goer is not established, the basis exists, the meaning of this reason is either the non-establishment itself or the contradiction of meaning itself. If it is established in terms of ultimate truth, then it is the non-establishment of the reason itself. If it is established in terms of conventional truth, then it is the contradiction of the meaning of the reason itself. Therefore, the root of the reason is the non-establishment itself, because there are terms that correspond to those objects. Here it is said: Then, in order to establish going, listen to another inference, and so on. Those who claim that there is birth, in order to establish the root of the reason, establish that there is going through the term of the goer who has going. The goer, this is the subject. It must exist, this is the dharma to be established. Because he has a term corresponding to it, this is the dharma that establishes. Because there is going, there is the term of the goer corresponding to that going, such as Devadatta goes, and so on, so it is established that there must be going. Here, for what does not exist, it is not shown that it necessarily has a corresponding state, this is the dissimilar class. For example, it is not shown as a rabbit's horn, this is a dissimilar example. Devadatta goes.

Oh, because there is a term associated with going, this is called an example that conforms to the Dharma. Therefore, because there is going, "the meaning of what is thought is accomplished" is called the conclusion and the result of valid cognition. Because there is the term "goer" associated with going, such as "Devadatta goes," therefore, because there is going, in order to make the meaning of what is thought the object of those things, it is said that the meaning of the argument is accomplished. In order to answer that statement, the commentator says here: For this, do you think that the term "Devadatta goes" is, in the ultimate sense, the term for a goer, or the term for a non-goer, and so on. In order to show that the previous examination is not reasonable, for the time being, the goer does not go. The word "for the time being" depends on the order. "The goer does not go" is the establishment of the vow, and so on. If the sentence "for the time being, the goer does not go" becomes the words of others, then why is it shown as one's own words? In order to eliminate the previous question raised from the heart, the commentator answers here: The reason why the commentator shows it as his own words is because those who only follow the sound, are not good at distinguishing the Dharma, have degenerated in wisdom due to wrong views, have turned their backs on discipline, meditation, and wisdom, have themselves gone astray, and also cause others to fall into it. In order to abandon attachment to it, it is said. In front of the teacher, possessing the power of the lord of the earth, knowing all the treatises, here he says that these are his own words, because those grammarians only follow the sound, are not good at distinguishing the Dharma, have degenerated in wisdom due to wrong views, have turned their backs on discipline, meditation, and wisdom, have themselves gone astray, and also cause others to fall into it, it is made in order to abandon the sting of attachment to that sound, and not the roots of language, etc., and actions, etc., and distinctions, etc., and signs, etc., and the determined nature of words, those established by their own nature.
