They remember sixty destructions of kalpas. Others, the wise ones, remember ninety kalpas, and beyond that, there are no worldly beings. Furthermore, some see beings dying and being reborn with divine eyes. They think with these four reasons: 'Only these beings wander and revolve in samsara. There are no other beings, so it is neither few nor many. Therefore, I and the world are not eternal.' Some speak of four eternals, as follows: When the world is formed, some beings whose life, karma, and merit are exhausted die from the gods of clear light and are born in the empty palace of Brahma. They become endowed with size, form, and strength, and live for a long time. When they have lived for a long time and passed away, they feel joy, thinking, 'Alas, how wonderful it would be if another being were born here!' Then, some beings whose life, karma, and merit are exhausted die from the clear light and are born in the empty palace of Brahma. They think, 'We are emanated by Brahma.' Brahma also thinks, 'I created these.' Then, some die and are born here, renounce their homes, become monks, and remember their past lives through the power of mental concentration. They think, 'The Brahma who emanates is eternal, but we who are emanated by him are impermanent.' Brahma also has such sinful views: The elements of earth, water, fire, and wind, and the sense faculties of eye, ear, nose, tongue, and body are impermanent, unstable, and unreal. But the dharmas of mind, intellect, and consciousness are eternal, stable, and real. Then, some die and are born here, become monks, and remember their past lives through the power of mental concentration.

Thus, through the sinful view of Brahma and others, it is shown that those are not permanent, but mind, intellect, and consciousness are permanent. There are gods called the Playful Unknowing, who, being deeply immersed in sexual pleasure and play, lose their memory and awareness, and their bodies die and are reborn. Born here, they remember their past lives through the power of mental concentration, and say: Those who do not delight in sexual pleasure and play are eternal. They also say: We have long been in sexual pleasure and play, and having died and been reborn from there, we are impermanent. There are also gods called the Mindful Haters. They look at each other for a long time, hating each other with the appearance of their minds. Then their bodies die and are reborn, and having been born here, they renounce and remember their past lives through the power of mental concentration, and say: Those who do not hate each other with their minds are eternal. They also say: We hated each other with our minds, and having died and been reborn from there, we are impermanent. The four who speak of having an end and not having an end are: Here, some ascetics or Brahmins, when observing the limits of self and the world, because of their limited knowledge, strongly declare that whatever knowledge cannot reach is the limit. And some, through the power of mental concentration, whether upwards, downwards, or directly, cannot see the limits of the world, and say that the world is without limits. Some believe that the human world has limits, while the Brahma world does not, so the world both has limits and does not have limits. And some ascetics and Brahmins who possess speculation and examination, examine with wisdom that is extremely consistent with speculation: The knowledge of those who say that the world has limits is also untrue, and now whatever the worl

It is also not true to say that the world is without end, because the world is neither finite nor infinite. Like this, because the limit of this world cannot be measured, it is not finite. Like this, there is an end from Brahma and so on up to the green grass, so it is not infinite either. The four types of distraction are: here, if someone asks whether the results of good and non-good exist or not? Because of the fear of being blamed, thinking that it would be bad if I were blamed, they distract the other person with words, saying: It is not like that, it is not like that, it is not other, it is not this, it is not that, it is not not this either. Similarly, if someone asks whether the next world exists or not? If I temporarily say that the next world exists, then I have not seen it with my own eyes. But if I say that the next world does not exist, then there are those who have the divine eye and can see the next world, and they will accuse me of lying, so because of the fear of lying, they distract the other person with words such as "it is not like that." Similarly, if someone asks whether doing this is good? Although I certainly know that good is like this, and I truly know and see it, if I say that good is like this, I will help that person; if I know and see it but do not say it, I will be punished by that person. Therefore, because of the fear of helping and punishing, they distract others with words such as "it is not like that." Similarly, if someone asks a person who is very depressed and ignorant, because he cannot give a consistent answer, he says: It is not like that, it is not like that, it is not other, it is not not other, using such words to distract people.
