Those who see! Such is the quiescence of elaboration, meditation is not seeing. Any clinging to the view of self and entity, other and entity, entity and non-entity, in such Buddha's teachings, such a view is not seeing. Furthermore, saying "exists" is to view as permanent, saying "does not exist" is to view as annihilation, and so on, it is extensively taught. Acharya Aryadeva also said: "Neither exists nor does not exist, neither both nor neither, not even non-both, liberated from the four extremes, only the Madhyamika understands this." Such reasoning, and the source of scripture, also comes from the Holy Prajnaparamita Sutra: "Whatever is not existent is said to be non-existent. Existence and non-existence, these two are dharmas of non-existence, children will analyze them, saying existent and non-existent." Thus it is said. Also, the Bhagavan said: "Existence and non-existence, these two are extremes, purity and impurity, these are also extremes. Therefore, having abandoned the two extremes, the wise do not even abide in the middle." Thus it is said. The stain of the fault of the third opponent is also absent, because the outsider Ishvara says this: "Beautiful woman, cook well and eat, after death it is like the footprints of a jackal. Live happily before death, after death there is no place to enjoy. The body also disappears like ashes, and rebirth is also difficult. Therefore, there is no past or future life, for the sake of happiness in this life, worship the gods, suppress ghosts and demons, and one will achieve power, wealth, and strength." Saying this, how can such a statement of annihilationism be the same as the view of us Madhyamikas? They are slanderers of dependent origination, cause and effect, truth, the Three Jewels, etc., so they are annihilationists. We Madhyamikas abide in the principle of the two truths, so we will not become annihilationists. How so? In this way, even in terms of conventional truth, we are not annihilationists. The teacher said: "Ignorance is the beginning, old age and death are the end, where are the twelve links of dependent origination? Like illusion and dream, the twelve links of dependent origination, we accept here." Thus he spoke of internal dependent origination. In terms of external dependent origination, Dharmakirti, the supreme knower of reasoning, also said: "Sprouts and so on, blue and so on, the ability to see conventional

It is said: If it is said to be so, then it ends like that. Thus it is said. The source of the scripture also says: Whether virtue or non-virtue is ultimately unreal, even so, virtue itself is not non-virtue. The conventional world is like the moon in water, delightful virtue and suffering are always inseparable. Thus it is said. Likewise, there is no slander against the Three Jewels, for the Three Jewels arise from the practice of yoga by us Madhyamikas, and that is also in the conventional truth. As the Bhagavan said: All attainments of siddhis are also conventional, the Buddha Vajrasattva himself, is perfectly accomplished in the conventional truth. Thus it is said. The Bhagavan also said: I arose at the Bodhi tree only in non-attainment. Similarly, Shariputra, the venerable one, attainment also exists, realization also exists, but that is merely expressed as duality by worldly terms, in the ultimate truth it does not exist. Such are the things that were said. Therefore, attainment, realization, and fruit are all in the conventional truth. Furthermore, a Bodhisattva who has the mind of enlightenment arising from great compassion thinks: In the ultimate truth, all dharmas are unborn from the beginning, but in the conventional truth, how can these sentient beings of the five realms be delivered from the river of suffering? By means of the four means of gathering and other supreme methods, may all these beings, without exception, be placed in the great perfect enlightenment. When in the Buddha-field where I perfectly and completely awaken, may even the names of Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, sentient beings, and suffering not be heard. How can one who thinks in this way be a nihilist? The teacher also said: Even giving away the body is not a great wonder, but one who, knowing this dharma to be empty, still believes in the results of karma, is more wonderful than wonder, more marvelous than marvel. Again: Viewing with the view of emptiness, constantly with body, speech, and mind, thus accomplishing the benefit of sentient beings, how can one be a nihilist? Thus it is said. The source of the scripture.
