The Dharma is for attaining the supreme power that perfects all assemblies. The sacred Dharma is the good Dharma, it is the Mahayana. Thus, in the sutra called "Lion's Roar of the Goddess Splendor Garland," it says: "Bhagavan, the so-called complete acceptance of the sacred Dharma is the supreme word of the Mahayana. Why is that? Bhagavan, all the vehicles of the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, and all the virtuous dharmas of the mundane and supramundane, are distinguished by the Mahayana. Bhagavan, for example, just as the four great rivers are distinguished by Lake Mapam (Lake Manasarovar), so too, Bhagavan, all the vehicles of the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, and all the virtuous dharmas of the mundane and supramundane, are distinguished by the Mahayana." As it is said. The term "teacher" means to be taught. The term "Gautama" is because he is of the Gautama lineage. Therefore, offering the practice of devotion, I prostrate. Thus, although it is shown that all things are without inherent existence, those who speak badly, due to the habitual clinging to the inherent existence of things, their intelligence is diminished, like those with cataracts seeing what is not true, they refute in order to establish their own side. Regarding this, you should carefully examine with the valid cognitions of establishment and refutation, and thereby show that your own side is established. If the valid cognitions of establishment and refutation are without inherent existence, then they do not have the power to realize the true nature of things that are considered permanent, because they are without inherent existence. For example, like the view of a barren woman's son, and so on. However, if they have inherent existence, then all things would be established in the same way, and therefore all inferences taught in all treatises would also be uncertain. Here, if it is thought that the meaning of the reason does not exist because it is without inherent existence, then the meaning of the reason is not established for oneself. If it is for another, then it is for another. In ultimate reality, because valid cognitions and so on are without inherent existence, they have no power.

If it can be established, then it is the establishment of what is already established. In conventional truth, it is harmed by the commitment. But in ultimate truth, even for valid cognitions, there is no power to show what is to be known and what is to be believed, because it is conditioned, like a donkey. Similarly, because it is something that arises, because it is different due to the difference of causes, because it is something that disintegrates, because it is something to be known and something to be said, and so on, the inference should also be extensively stated, because by the method shown earlier, birth in general is prevented, and action is prevented. What is to be specifically refuted is that, in ultimate truth, direct perception does not have the nature of direct perception, because it relies on the senses, like a mistaken consciousness. Similarly, in ultimate truth, inference also does not have the nature of inference, because it is a valid cognition, like direct perception. Or, in ultimate truth, inference is not a valid cognition, because it is conceptual, like mistaking a tree stump for a person. Similarly, for the limbs of proof such as the proposition, showing what is to be proved is to definitely hold the proposition, whatever is not initiated by the proponent who wants to prove that the proposition does not have faults such as contradicting the meaning, that is the characteristic of the proposition. To this, for those who claim that proof and refutation are ultimate truth, one should ask this: What is to be proved? Is it already established or not established? To this, if it is already established, then establishing it is meaningless. But if it is not established, then in ultimate truth, that is not what is to be established, because it is not established, like the roundness of a rabbit's horn. If one also thinks that what is not established for oneself and both is not what is to be established, then it is the establishment of what is already established. If one thinks that what is not established for others is not what is to be established, then there is no example, because there is no rabbit's horn, so there is no dharma to be established, and it is also thought that the meaning of the reason is also not established, because the reason is universally proclaimed, and for the example, the concomitance is also universally shown, and others.
