To say that "it accomplishes the two self-natures very well" is inconsistent. Fire does not manifest from itself. For example, before the fire is lit, a vase is not seen in the darkness, but after the fire manifests, it is seen. Similarly, if the fire is in the darkness before it manifests, and then the fire manifests later, then it is said to manifest its own self-nature. But that is not the case, so this distinction is also unreasonable. Furthermore, if according to your words, this fire manifests its own self, then, like fire treats other things, it would also burn itself. If you say that just as fire manifests the nature of other things, it also manifests its own self, then, just as it burns the self of other things, would it also burn its own self? That is not the case, so it is not right to say that fire also manifests the self of other things. Furthermore, if according to your words, fire manifests the self of itself and others, then, like fire, darkness would also obscure the self of itself and others. If according to your view, fire can manifest the self of itself and others, then, would the darkness, which is now the antidote, also obscure the self of itself and others? That is not the case, so it is unreasonable to say that fire can manifest the self of itself and others. Furthermore, the manifestor is the one who dispels darkness, and where fire and what does not abide, there is no darkness elsewhere, how does it manifest? Here, there is no darkness in the fire, and where there is fire, there is no darkness. The so-called manifestation is the dispelling of darkness, therefore, there is no darkness in the fire, and where there is fire, there is no darkness, then what darkness does the fire that manifests the self of itself and others dispel? Here it is said: Then, why is there no darkness in the fire? Where there is fire, there is no darkness, and precisely because of this, fire can manifest the self of itself and others.
