Because of existence, it will not involve others. If the definition is not applicable, then the referent cannot be established. If the referent cannot be established, then the definition will not exist either. Therefore, the referent is not existent, and the definition itself is not existent. Apart from the referent and the definition, the thing itself is also not existent. If the thing is not existent, then what will the non-thing become? Things and non-things are incompatible dharmas, with what do you understand things and non-things? Therefore, space is not a thing, not a non-thing, not a referent, not a definition, not the five elements, anything else is similar to space. Those who are small-minded, regarding all things, think of existence and non-existence, that view is to be observed, and they cannot see the peace of nirvana. This is called the Examination of Elements, the fifth chapter. If desire is prior, and there is attachment without desire, relying on that, there is desire, and the existence of attachment will lead to the existence of desire. Even if attachment exists, how can desire exist? For attachment, desire is also, whether it exists or not, the order is the same. Desire and attachment cannot arise simultaneously. Thus, desire and attachment, will become mutually independent. Not one, not simultaneous, it is not it, nor is it simultaneous with it. If it is indeed different, how can it be simultaneous? If only one is simultaneous, then it will also be without a companion. If different are simultaneous, then it will also be without a companion. If different are simultaneous, then, will desire and attachment be established as different? Therefore, those two will be simultaneous. If desire and attachment are established as different, then, why are they fully understood to be simultaneous? Because difference is not established, therefore, if one wants simultaneously, in order for simultaneous completion, does one also want difference? Because different things are not established, simultaneous things cannot be established. If there are different things, one will want simultaneous things. Thus, desire and attachment, simultaneous and non-simultaneous cannot be established. Like desire, all dharmas, simultaneous and non-simultaneous cannot be established. This is called the Examination of Desire and Attachment, the sixth chapter.

If birth is conditioned, then it will have three characteristics. If birth is not conditioned, how can it be a characteristic of the conditioned? Can the three, such as birth, each act as a characteristic of the conditioned? How can they be gathered in one thing at one time? If there is another characteristic of the conditioned for birth, duration, and destruction, then it will be endless. If not, then they are not conditioned. The birth of birth only produces the root birth. The root birth also produces the birth of birth. If the birth of your birth produces the root birth, then how does that which your root has not produced, produce? If that which your root has produced produces the root, then how does that root which it has not produced, produce? If that which is unborn can produce that, then that which is being born depends on wanting to produce it. Just as a lamp illuminates itself and others, can birth also produce both itself and the things of others? When the lamp and whatever is there, there is no darkness. What does the lamp illuminate? It illuminates by dispelling darkness. When the lamp is being born, if it does not encounter darkness, then how does the lamp being born dispel darkness? Even if the lamp does not encounter darkness, if it dispels darkness, then all the darkness that exists in the world will surely dispel the darkness that exists here. If the lamp illuminates the things of itself and others, then there is no doubt that darkness will also obscure the things of itself and others. If this birth is not unborn, how can it produce its own self-nature? If the born produces, then what is there for the born to produce? The born, the unborn, and the being born, in whatever way, cannot produce, and this can be explained by the examples of gone, not gone, and walking. When birth exists, when this being born has not arisen, how can it be said to be being born by relying on birth? Whatever is dependently arisen, its nature is peace. Therefore, being born itself and birth are also peace. If things

That which is unborn, if there is any part of it, where would it be? If there is no such thing as arising, what will arise? If that which arises, the ariser is the one in the process of arising, then that arising is like arising, by whom is it born? If by another arising, then that arising will be endless. If there is no birth and there is birth, then everything will be born like that. In short, existence and non-existence are not the reason for arising, and existence and non-existence themselves are not, as has been shown before. For things that are being destroyed, arising is unreasonable. If it is not being destroyed, then it should not be a thing. Things that stay do not stay, and things that do not stay are not staying. Those who are staying are not staying, how can those who are not born stay? For things that are being destroyed, staying is unreasonable. If it is not being destroyed, then it should not be a thing. All things at all times are the laws of aging and death, if there is no aging and death, what is the thing that stays? Staying is not staying by other staying, nor by itself. Just as arising is not born by itself and others. Destruction does not destroy, and non-destruction does not destroy. Those who are being destroyed are not like that, how can those who are not born be destroyed? In short, for things that stay, destruction is unreasonable. For things that do not stay, destruction is also unreasonable. That time is not that time, it destroys itself. That time is not another time, and the other does not destroy it. When the arising of all dharmas is unreasonable, then the destruction of all dharmas is also unreasonable. In short, for things that exist, destruction is unreasonable. In one, things and non-things are unreasonable. For those who have become non-things, destruction is also unreasonable. Like a two-headed person, it cannot be cut off, and so is it. Destruction is not by its own nature, nor by other destruction. Just as arising is not born by itself and others. Birth, dwelling, and destruction, because they are not established, are conditioned dharmas
